Hi guys, I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what I want, hope some guys here will help be decide.

I have a friend flying to the US this weekend and he is offering to purchase any PC parts for me and bring it over. I was thinking since the price is damn good compared to UK I might as well just go all out and buy:

2 x EVGA 680 Classifieds (EVGA because of international warranty and better resale value compared to the 670) for around 350GBP each.

Or

should I just go for the GTX670 FTW 4GB version (290GBP each) and save some money?

I don't have a budget and money is no object atm.
Current res is 1440p, I will play 3 X 1080p surround in a few months time.

Current specs:
3770K @ 4.6
Z77 Maximus Formula
Ref GTX680 2GB - will sell this on MM once I get replacement cards.

Should I just ignore this all together and cling onto my Ref GTX 680 and buy next gen in the coming months? The US prices are too attractive though!!

Hope some guys here will help me on which road to take. I'll need to decide by Friday evening!

Cheers!

Any reason not to consider a pair of 7970s? You get more ram and they're outperforming the 680s with the release of the latest drivers.

I have and thought long and hard about it. 7970 I use to have and sold due to unable to stream and have driver crashes. EVGA has international warranty so I have a peace of mind if anything screws up you see so EVGA is my only choice.

@Westie, are you saying get the 2 Classifieds?

If you are not going multi monitor for a few months maybe you should wait for the next generation of GPUs. This will give you the opportunity to buy faster cards with more vram.

MSI Lightnings if you can send them back to europe should you have any problems. The best 680s bar none.

I would but I move abroad back and forth so I need a company that offers the best CS.

I'm thinking about leaving it and wait for next gen since its only a few months away but I have the upgrade itch, especially at that price!!!

doesn't mean i'm not getting it still, its driving me crazy!

I could get the Classy's and maybe sell them on MM for around the same price I got them for? Not sure how much they are worth after the new gen's come out...

evga 680 :)

They do weigh a bit and could bump up your friends weight by 4 kilos so keep that in mind.

and....your going to need a new psu

Classy if you can get them with the evbot connector, failing that just the cheapest evga offering that can suit your needs.

If the classys have the evbot connector or even better come shipped with an evbot controller, they will be worth substantially more. Classy without evbot is about as much use as a ref card :D

Just did some research and apprently they don't come with that connection. So you think I should just go standard 680/670 4GB even if the Classy's cost only 350GBP?

^yep, was just the off chance your mate buys from somewhere with old stock. Which is unlikely as I'd imagine they were all snapped up once it was announced evbot was to be dropped from the card.

I'd suggest looking at the cheapest evga 670/680 that's on a 680 pcb, which means if looking at 670's you should be looking at the ftw cards :)

The 670 FTW 4GB are 292GBP compared to the Classys that are 350GBP. Your choice would be? 670? Classy? Wait next gen? Baring in mind that I still have a Ref 680.

Totally up to you mate, I honestly don't think you'll see much if any performance difference between the two, I suppose it comes down to vram in the end. General feeling is next gen is a good 6 months away.

You think the 6 months would include the ATi cards too? IIRC the ATi cards were released in Jan.

Be prepared that you could end up paying more than the prices you've quoted.

1) You need to allow for any applicable sales tax in the state they're being bought from if you haven't already.

2) Bringing in goods for your own use you have a tax/duty free allowance of £390 and VAT/duty would have to be paid on the value above that (but see below).

3) As your friend isn't bringing the goods in for his own use then VAT/duty should be paid on the whole value.

Thanks for the info Surveyor, I'm prepared to pay for anything if my friend gets charged. I'm still deciding if I should pull the trigger or not ._.
