*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

I think Jeff is losing it these days, he seems to be totally missing the point with most of the WiiU stuff.

But yeah from some of the ports like COD/Batman they seem to have a few cool little qwerks but nothing to justify the price unless you don't currently have a 360/PS3. Some stuff looks really interesting though, but a good amount of issues too!

Oh man, your account is tied to your console and you cannot remove it or log it onto another system. What the hell nintendo? Seriously, you have had all this time to catch up, and you still leave basic features out :(

Can't say I blame them, looks like a big letdown so far, they've resorted to the eShop games which seem to be overpriced and very shallow so far.

So just a quick recap for anyone reading this who missed live feed

Ports suffer poor frame rates and are best played on other consoles/pc
2 hard lock ups
Everything takes a age ,the ui and loading times
Lots of error messages (online side of things)
Mii u can't be transferred to another console and is tied to the one it was registered too
Rabid game is bad
Mario seems to the only title that the guys in video enjoyed
Trine 2 on pc better

Other information which concerns me is the fact the tablet/control lasts 3 hours on a full charge and takes 2 hours to charge

Glad I watched the Giantbomb feed, have cancelled my preorder, I want a new gadget but everything so far has been okay at best and very disappointing. The gamepad seems little more than a gimmick, I'm sure Nintendo will sell a load of them but I'm out!

The Epic Mickey feed right now is painful to watch, the framerate is plummeting, I know Nintendo don't lead the way with graphics but everything so far suggests the Wii U can't keep up with even current hardware and risks not getting cross-platform titles or getting poor versions which in turn means those developers are less likely to put the time into original IPs either.

what a bunch of idiots.
But im now wondering about cancelling my preorder too.
Mind you saying that ive just looked at some forums fron WiiU users and they seem pretty happy with it.
Am i right in thinking all new consoles start off a bit twitchy?

I don't think everything suggests that it can't keep up with current hardware, I think it is more indicative of lazy porting (which is not just an issue confined to the WiiU launch).

With FIFA 13 they didn't implement all the features because they didn't have the resources available to do it in time, suggests to me that the third parties aren't putting the effort in and are waiting to see what happens to it.

That said there are a few oddities in the console that are putting me off - the load times for one. I expect this to be fixed with an update, but it all adds to my impression that the console isn't actually ready for release and they rushed it out to avoid the competition.

I'll give it a week before deciding on whether to keep my preorder or not, because that should give time for the dust to settle.

Haha, the stream ended with this.

Really hope Nintendo fixes a lot of these issues before it launches elsewhere.

Of course, this was definitely to be expected.

There will most likely still be some software issues in a months time but again I was expecting this. If you look at the Xbox 360 launch and completely disregard the overheating issues and the fact they had to extend the warranty to cover it, it still suffered from hard drive issues or hard drives that just didn't work, lock ups, random erroneus error messages, graphical corruption, bad frame rates etc.

None of these issues concern me. Hard lock ups and frame rate issues will be fixed in software updates. Loading times will also be fixed although might be connected to the online service which is getting utterly annihilated due to so many people trying to connect to it. Sure it will get annoying until it's fixed, if anyones concerned about it that much they should probably just cancel their pre-order and pick one up after Christmas.

From what I have read on other boards if it breaks just after buying in the US you have to send it back to the manufacturer, you cant get a replacement in a shop like we can.

Something like that would really put you off a system.
