*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

Free to play.. if you can play... this is going downhill fast imo. I have no problem subbing, but it shouldn't be preferential treatment just to get on the server... that alienates people.
 
I plan on subbing from tomorrow, paying 6 months up front. It's a great deal and 6 months only works out at about 43 quid, which is roughly what a new game would cost on launch, the devs deserve it as far as I'm aware, they have spoiled us in terms of communication with the community and I have been waiting years for a company to make use of PC power!

Will spend the 6 months and extra cert gain getting all my gear then probably cancel the sub. I'm sure the queues won't be too bad, each server has a capacity of 6000.

Great deal till they naff and ruin everything you paid money for which they will.

Devs talking to a community isn't new and nor is that an reason to give them money for.

What make use of PC power are you talking about? Because last time I checked, the game only used one of my cores and I couldn't get Eyefinity to work correctly in vehicles.

Pah, I wouldn't risk wasting money on this game untill it matures and it settles down. It might be launching tomorrow but it's still very much a beta game.
 
Anyway.

Are people using Planetside2.com or Planetside2.eu to register accounts with? Also have we decided what nation we going to be fighting for? I think am going to stick with TR and run a side account for Vanu.

I swapped from TR to NC at the end of the beta... as much as I liked using the OP TR insta-gib guns, the whole aesthetic of the NC I find more appealing, feels less fisher-price to play.

What other game has had this much discussion with the community? I had at least 3 replies directly to me from the CEO for crying out loud, try getting a reply from Bobby Kotick. Also, show me a game that has battles this large, not to mention the settings that will be unlocked over the next few years to unleash huge graphical improvements. Have you tried the game on Ultra settings by editing the .ini? It's freaking gorgeous. Yeh, the game needs optimization big time but they said it is an on going thing and the last 2 beta patches gave me a 10fps increase.
 
Cant wait for this finish work tonight and hopefully going to have a allnighter ripping stuff apart! I see the beta forums are down anyway. How do you all know what servers people are flocking to?

You unlock things for a certain "soldier", you can have several soldiers on different empires and servers (NC, VS, TR). If you move from TR to VS then you still have the TR soldier with all his unlocks but you would be starting a VS soldier from scratch.
 
I played some of the beta but found it quite hard to run at a decent frame rate. Am hoping the release has been optimized as I like the idea of mass fps battles on a grand scale :)

Guess I need to have a long hard think into which faction I want to be :(
 
I havn't found a clear answer for this yet, but do we NEED to make a prosiebensat account for live ? Or can we carry on using our SOE accounts. I want to subscribe but not sure whether i can just do it with my SOE account or if we have to make new ones first.

Smedley said a month or so back that those with Soe accounts already wouldn't need to migrate to prosieben if they didn't want to. My brother bought a sub this morning on the account he played Ps1 on with no issues, so as long as you can access your station account I think you're all set.

People without station accounts already, from europe will need to sign up with prosieben.
