Currys 100 hour Price Crash

Do people even bother with January sales anymore? Even in the clearance xbox games at currys Fifa12 for £25 behave

Yes, have you never seen the news reports each year where there are some loonies who finish Xmas dinner, then drive down to London and spend their Xmas Day Night camped outside the shops?

January Sales are still really important for fashion and clothing because thats when they shift the stock to make way for the new season collections. So the stock has to be reduced and its always going to be popular with women especially.

Non-Seasonal items, like electronics goods don't need to operate in the same way and retailers have started to shift to giving better discounts before Xmas, because they now know that there are people who will spend little before and just wait until January to buy expensive goods instead.

Don't even go there Vanilla... ;)

I wonder if it includes order online and pick up in store purchases?

I don't know about online sales, but for store sales, DSGi circulates a memo to all staff the week before, telling them exactly what will be on sale, and the price, so much of the time, the staff have already earmarked the items, before the price has even dropped.. Management don't care, sales are sales after all..

But you're probably right, this is likely to tie into the whole black friday thing, only being the UK, we don't know about the whole 'stack high sell cheap' concept, so our sales tend to not offer much in the way of bargains. Not to mention, DSGi's core customer base, are those people that, unlike us internetaholics, don't research, don't really look around, and see a sale price and think "ooh what a bargain.. 50p off" (they do exist, hence why cars are still sold for x999 instead of rounding up to the nearest thousand).

WHICH WE RECOUP IN OVER-INFLATED DELIVERY FEES! ALSO, PAY US TO TAKE AWAY YOUR KNACKERED OLD WHITE GOODS!

I've actually found them quite good for white goods. Free delivery and they take away old stuff without charge. On day of delivery get a text giving an hour or 2 hour timeslot and then a phone call from driver giving about 10 mins notice.

I saw no such memo yesterday, not that I had a chance to stop to look

Will have a look at 2pm and decide if I want anything

Untrue.

You might have an idea what's going on sale because you would put the POS out and move stock around, but it's rare that you would know the price until you printed the tickets for display the night before (or on the morning). As for limited stock, we were never allowed to buy it ourselves.

Online is online anyway, they won't know anything about it.
