i was thinking of keeping the motherboard and the cpu till the new chips come out i heard in like april 2013 so i thought it might be pointless buying an i5 3570k now? or should i just buy one now?

and also is there anything you would change in the spec?

I'm pretty sure new chips are coming with a new socket, so if you wanted to upgrade to one in April you'd have to change mobo too, which would just be a blag... I don't think many people would say a 3570k is a pointless buy, and personally I think it's pointless to spend £30 on something I'm only going to replace first opportunity - I'd rather have that money in my pocket. I think I'd at least want one of the faster pentiums, or if I could afford to now (or hold off a bit) an i5.

If you're not bothered by USB3, and don't have an SSD so SATA3 is redundant, I'd think the mobo should suit it's purpose :)

Probably worth asking - what games do you want to be able to play, and at what res?

Personal preference... I'd get win7...

I don't reckon you're going to get the best out of your other components with that celeron. You'd be just as well to ditch the celeron now, get an i5 and use the onboard GPU for a few months saving for now 150quid on the 7850. By then the 7850 will be probably be cheaper and you've got the 150 to go towards what you really want (as well as what you get by selling the mobo and i5 secondhand) Just my opinion - I could be talking a load of twaddle ;-)

the g540 isn't great - id look at an i3 2100 or the ivy equivalent if you are on a budget - but don't get a 3570k with that motherboard - pointless. you cannot overclock on a H61 board.

What???

Why would you buy a gaming PC with no GPU....

i could proberly sell the mobo and the cpu as a bundle on ebay later on for like half the price someone would buy it, i might just go all out and buy an i5 i wanted to save some more money for christmas hahahaha! how long would an i5 last me gaming wise?

Tough one to answer to be honest as it all depends on what you expect to run on it. Latest games shouldn't be a problem in general - I'm running a four year old rig which yes is past its sell by date but there are still lots of games out there that will run for me - Starcraft 2, TF2 and lots of back catalogue stuff which is always cheaper to get hold of. If you're looking to play the latest games I'm sure this setup (with an i5) will suffice for the next couple of years at least (IMO) All the best with what you decide to do :)
