Tried it on auto and night but you can't take a good picture in the dark without the flash. I didn't try with the flash, just like you I wanted to replicate what I had seen in previews.
Still haven't tried image stabilisation myself just because I haven't found the time yet but from what I read and see (there are videos around) it works.

thats ok then.. as i aint had the time to ecord a good video to test it out as i beben busy.
wel i tried taking pictues with the flash on.. i took the same shot with mmy sisters galaxy s3, and the lumia 920 has better natural colours.
oh i forgot to mention that i love the screen on it

Went to start developing today. There's no way I'm upgrading from Windows 7. New laptop it is. :(

yup. there was a lot of noise from the community about that but it is the right decision... since WinPho8 is based around Win8 etc... - makes sense otherwise you would not access features etc... that are on Win7 in order to dev for WinPho8

Just upgrade....takes a day or two to get used to Win 8. But can spend most time in Desktop mode anyhow. And it means a whole world of Win 8 dev is available too.

Make sure your CPU can handle virtualisation though for the Phone emulation.

It's "low light" not "no light". So remember that if you can't do it on an SLR you aren't going to be able to do it on this phone.

The flash assist helps with focus, so you really do need to leave that on. But the main flash can be turned off.

Have Windows 8 on a partition that you only use to develop.

That'd mean buying a full version for £100 ish quid, wouldn't it?

I only have 4Gb of RAM, I doubt that's enough oomph for a VM.

£24 to upgrade ... now do I take the risk. Did your apps transfer across OK without having to reistall etc. I'm thinking it's taking the pee to buy a new laptop now, if you can persuade me, I'll upgrade today (to save myself £500) :)

yes all apps will work fine guaranteed if you do an upgrade. :)
or spend a few quid and upgrade your memory for VM... ideal for such situations and future development and apps.

You don't need a full version to use a partition, you can do that with the £25 upgrade. Said upgrade doesn't delete your files and programs, there's pretty much nothing you need to reinstall when it's done.

Really, you can use a partition on the £25 upgrade, is it an option when you upgrade, or do you need to do any setup yourself?

I much prefer the sound of having it partitioned.

when they are referring to an upgrade, you CANNOT dual boot. it replaces your existing Windows.
Are you sure you can't? Because you can save and install the upgrade from a dvd/usb so it may be possible.
Anyway there's nothing to lose buy upgrading really, the desktop is still there and it only costs £25.

yes im sure :) its always been like that with Windows and same with Windows 8. sure you can download it and burn it to a media or USB but that is to kick start the installation process, in this case an upgrade.

Ok ..... Thanks for all the advice.

Just ran the compatibility test, pretty much everything passed, those that didn't were quickly fixed, except qt SDK, so I guess for the time being, my Symbian dev days are over. :(

Right, if I can't dual boot, upgrade it is .... tally-ho, wish me luck! :)

But I like windows 7. :(
