Haha yeh Im on the same boat as u m8 lol, never any CS games and don't want to make the wrong decision. btw does it have controller support or just on keyboard?
thx
Hi as a CSGO player here are some of my observations:
There are now 2 'core' gameplay modes,
1) Classic i.e. standard rules i.e. buy weapons with money earnt each round for killing/completing objectives such as defusing bomb/planting bomb or rescuing/holding the hostages depending on what team you are on. These have been the standard CS rules since time immemorial (CS1.6/CSS/CZ or the older games)
There are two options within this, "competitive classic" and (sry can't remember) I'll just call it other-mode, lol![]()
Competitive classic is the die-hard unmodified version 5v5 matches whilst the other mode which I can't remember is 10v10 and basically gives you freebies like armour which really does make a difference compared to the dynamic of classic competitive (i.e. less budgeting issues, less chance getting shot). Also other servers ("community servers") can host their own versions of rules and have mods (sometimes big servers such as 16v16 or 20v20 in the other mode)
2) Gun-game style which the standard rules do not apply you simply start with a strong gun and with each kill on the next "round" you start with a weaker gun - whomever gets the "knife" kill wins
3) Mods zombie mod, and others I can't remember (sry I don't 'do' these)
As a conformist I prefer and spend the majority of my time on the "classic" (mostly classic competitive variant) set-up and for that, I can only offer you advice on that since I only play that game mode.
What I would say if you are new to Counter-Strike requires a lot of concentration (tbh a bit like BF3) and I wouldn't recommend a controller since precision of keyboard/mouse is required due to fast-pace vertical movements that need to be made during combat - a lot of people move about, tbh I don't think a controller would keep up, or if it did offer accuracy necessary to execute a kill which will enable you even if you did manage to kill an enemy to to have enough "life" to continue the mission.
Because when you are dead, you stay dead in CS until the round resets (max time 2.5mins or just over 3 if the other team plant the bomb last minute)
Anyway that's my analysis hope it helps![]()
It's pretty simple, maybe a little too simple.
It was 50% off for the first two days of the sale. If you wait till the Christmas sale it will no doubt be that cheap again.Does anyone know what the lowest price The Walking Dead has come down to during the sale? It's 25% off at the moment I think but would probably look to get it at 50% off!

If you think CS is simple, you definitely didn't play it enough!
10.50 on Origin.
Bought Witcher 2
Is it necessary to play Witcher 1 first for storyline or do these two games contain separate stories?
Thanks for taking the time to write that detailed reply really appreciate it.
Think I will give it ago its not much money

Just reading this = LOL
I done this (just did something else) but went back to it later -Played about ~65 hours of base game (since Gamefly had it for sale) However admittedly when I first got it I thought it was boring at first compared to Crusader Kings II for e.g.
TBH the way I see it the underlying structure is simple. Tried and tested method CT v T, 2 map modes (although wish they brought back VIP mode back) since 1999/2000 is the same. In that way, tbh it's simple, BUT:
the way the objectives are completed can be interesting, and certainly when you're the only one alive vs 3 other enemies, you (or at least I LOL) get this funny feeling racing through the body because deep down you know you can win if you give enough concentration, by no means not easily ('simply') do-able but can/has been accomplished before.
