I am looking to fill in my gap in Halo games by buying Halo 2 for the PC.

I have looked on Amazon and eBay, where there are used games listed.

Isnt there a CD key that will already be used if I buy used? So the only option would be to buy new?

Advice please?

Thanks

So it can be played offline, i.e no multiplayer with a used game?

As I believe the MP servers have closed anyways

Yes you can make a "Local" GFWL account and use any key. This means GFWL will be in offlline mode so no achievements and no online gaming. Shame the servers have closed if they have :(

Halo 2 PC is still very active the servers are still live. It uses an older custom MS DRM for a 1 time online activation as well as GFWL. Works on both Windows Vista & Windows 7 32/64 bit.

Amazon are selling brand new for under £9 though (MS reprinted this a while ago due to popularity!). Grab it while you can new from amazon ;) (this game also uses an unusual GFWL tech where you can play the game same time as its installing from DVD!)

Before installing Halo 2 though download & install the latest GFWL client from MS as the DVD includes the 2007 GFWL client:

The people who complained recently about this not working anymore are pirates as MS have disabled their used CD keys!

According to the reviews on Amazon Microsoft stopped supporting Halo 2 in October 2012 and you cannot validate your CD-key any longer
