Far Cry 3 Thread

Maybe it's just me but this game looks like Dead Island.:o

Yeah a little bit. I see it too.

I getting great performance with most settings on highest apart from the ssao options and shadows. Running a phenom ii 965 with a 6950(still a beast, I don't care what anyone says:p)....i am not measuring it though, I find it perfectly playable with no slowdowns so that is good enough for me.

Anyone liking the AI ? I found it to be very good that they can't find you if you hide in the bushes :D

And the game gets extra points for having the 1911 pistol, but shame there is no glock pistols :(

Hey guys im noticing some jolting about with frames, crossfire 6950's

What driver should i have? I updated to 12.10 the other day

Vsync 2 frames makes it smoothest but dont know what ssao thing i should have etc?

Thanks

So to those who have played it (illegally or legally I don't care, your choice): how does it compare to the other two games? Loved the first, never bothered completing the second. Got sick of repetitive checkpoint spawns.

Been playing it for most of the day and it is pretty good, nothing ground breaking compared to any of the other open world games etc.

It has sort of combined everything of the first 2 games.

Game runs really well on my i5 750 (stock), 8GB RAM and 4850 512MB turbo ice q4 at 1080P (some stuff on medium and a few things on high with a couple of things set to low, I could probably turn a couple more things up, still experimenting) and it looks pretty. It is a wee bit choppy in the videos though, but not bad enough to ruin the experience.

Haven't done much "proper" gameplay yet, just gathering as much as I can first and crafting things.

Has plenty of options in the settings to choose from.

Got to say I feel like Rambo using the bow in the jungle against bad guys :D

Although they still haven't really learned from far cry 2 about the constant run in with bad guys, can't go anywhere on the main roads for more than 3 or so minutes before you run into people......

Really enjoying this so far, running on Ultra (DX11) but using SSAO as other modes do knock the frames - with 2xMSAA with a FOV of 95 I'm getting 50 to 70fps [1680x1050]. I'm not running Fraps all the time, so I don't know how if its gone lower, but it always feels very smooth, apart from the in-game non interactive sections which are jerky for some reason, even though the frame rate is fine.

Is it me, or is the save system weird? it seems to put you in different places each time. Would rather a quick-save that places you where you actually save.

Gameplay = great fun, though I'm only a little way in. AI seems good, with the ability to hide in cover, and sneak around. I get killed by the wildlife more than the enemy

Cool game, well done Ubisoft... and it does look stunning most of the time, though I'm not keen on the fuzzy distance... and its a little over saturated, but still a great looking title.
