Win8 Tablets

So the biggest draw back is apps right now? That will come with time I suppose.

Its a shame nothing can compete with the Nexus 10 price point.

The apps will indeed come in time but there are some gaping holes at the moment. Its a problem for Windows RT because you can't fall back on the desktop versions like you can with Windows 8.

Depends on how willing you are to wait.

The smasung ativ smart pc is now available on Rogers(Canada and existing customers only) for pre order. Delivery within two weeks. $700 off contract, now if that includes the keyboard dock that is phenomenal deal, seeing as i's atom passed so a fair bit faster than atom, also 3G and 4g.

That's the same price as a surface 64gb with touch cover. Ativ smart pc is also 64gb.

All depends on keyboard, even without keyboard I think that's just about acceptable but high price. Using the surface price conversion $700 = £560

Ive pre ordered the Samsung Ativ. It should be here by the end of the week if fingers crossed.
I was going for the Asus due to the battery in the keyboard but I need a new laptop within the next couple of weeks and the Asus looks like it might not be out till the end of the year or early next year

£663 with keyboard

I have been reading that in canada the Samsung doesnt come with the S pen or keyboard

Not to bad, I hope it drops in price a bit when it's properly released.
Can't wait to see what you think off it.

Atom certain gives you a lot more flexibility than arm. Even without apps, you can always load up ie10 in desktop and up use full flash/silverlight for skygo, iplayer etc.

I have a HP touch pad and I have tried to get away from using the full windows experience but I always go back to my laptop. It just feels better to me using windows because I have used it for 17 years.
When I updated google Chrome on my laptop the other day and it opened up in metro I hated it. I tried to get used to it but I just like having my folders and other things a click away in the task bar.

I cant wait to get the Samsung. Hopefully when my finance agreement goes through I should have it by the end of the week and i will do a full review on it

So with the ARM processor you basically can only use the apps within the app store, which is currently virtually none?

Correct. There are 10,000 apps in the store at the moment but some notable omissions such as Spotify.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttt price.

Now to do what ever I can to ensure I have that money for release.

Snap. My only concern is battery life, what are the rumoured stats?

The new Surface will debut in two editions in the United States and Canada: one with 64 GB of storage, priced at $899, a second with 128 GB for $999. Each model comes with a Surface pen but does not include Touch Cover or Type Cover add-ons ($120 and $130, respectively).

Surface General Manager Panos Panay also revealed additional specs for the Intel-powered device, which is capable of running the full spectrum of Windows desktop programs in addition to Windows Store apps:

Core i5 processor (clock speed not specified)
10.6" 9 ClearType with 1920x1080 full HD resolution
Full digitizer and ink support with Palm Block technology
Full-size USB 3.0 port
Mini DisplayPort (can drive an external display up to 2560 x 1440 resolution)

Upto 6 hrs iirc.

It'll just need to be charged lots.
Need to look into buying some two part rubber liquid stuff, pull apart a qi charger loop, ms charger adapter and combine the three into a sleeve.
That way at least every time you place it down it picks up some charge.

That's good enough for me, plus it will run Sky Go. :D

I'll be pre-ordering as soon as I can.
I love my Surface RT and now no longer use my iPad for anything but music writing on the go. With Surface pro I won't even need it for that as I will just be able to run Sonar, Reason etc.
