Hi all,

Got a Letter today from VM telling me they are putting my prices up by £5.61, that seems a lot.

There TiVo box is appalling and I have to turn it off and back on at least once a day because it stops working.

My broadband although is pretty fast their traffic shaping and throttling really winds me up, often have buffering issues when streaming radio in the shaping times, also so much for " we are doubling your speeds for free" apart from they are going to be charging me £5.61 extra a month.

Wish someone else could offer the package I get (mostly broadband).

Anyone else got this letter?

I already recieved it and considering in the small amount of time I've been with them that they'ver not only doubled my 50mbps connection to 100mbps thy're also going to up it to 120mbps for free when the infrastructure in my area is upgraded so I'm not complaining.

Just phone them up with a comparison to Sky new customer deals and they will probably beat it .

Yup mines going up by £2 something as of feb.

I've found the best thing to do with virgin is to complain on twitter. They soon get on and sort people's problems out. The TiVo box dying once a day isn't normal, and they should replace it for free.

You never actually own the box with virgin you're renting it. Be grateful you aren't with sky. After 12 months the box is yours and then you either have to fork out for monthly cover, or pay a £60 call out charge every time.

I got this letter yesterday, it's a big old jump! £5 on a £45 bill, considering they've slowly been bumping the price up by up to a £ every couple of months since I've been with them.

haven't received anything off them yet.

as far as the double broadband speeds are concerned, I signed up for 30MB, and 1 month later received a letter saying "CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO THE AMAZING SPEED OF 30MB"

really? pffft

Sky has gone up a few times this year, but when I looked at the small print, it does say that they can change prices at anytime, so its not like a contract where you can reneg on it because they changed the terms.

Although I've never tried it myself, I do hear people say that you can somewhat haggle with these companies over bills. If you've been with VM a while, then perhaps threatening to go elsewhere might get you a discount.

I got a free router replacement from Sky after moaning at them when they wanted me to pay for a new one after four years.

I had an email from them yesterday saying my services were going up by £5.09 per month.

I rang them and complained and said i would like to cancel my services, the chap said "ah but you are only 6 months into an 18 month contract" i replied with "In your Ts & Cs it states that if i am not happy with these changes i can leave" he said "Yes but the exit fees will be massive, its not worth your while" to which i replied "In the same Ts & Cs it clearly states that i can leave with no exit fees"

The chap then told me i would be disconnected in 30 days :D

If they ring me and offer me a good deal then ill stay, if not it looks like BT infinity and Freeview are the order of the day.

I've just tweeted them (thanks!^^) although I'm not too bothered about the extra £2 odd, it's worth bargaining for a better deal either way considering I pay £37.50 a month anyway!

I do get full 100Mb all day though luckily.

I've delivered a few suspicious looking Virgin Media letters today. Glad I got shot of them back in the summer, tbh.

They only just raised their prices back in Feburary/March, if I remember correctly, seems a bit much to be demanding more money so soon. They must need the money to print yet more 'join virgin media' leaflets, or pay for the 'free' boost in broadband speeds.
