If any one was at the lumia gig then I was the guy in the ridiculously florescent orange coat in the lumia lounge.

should have mentioned I was going as I think there are a couple of other nokians here it would have been cool to meet :-)

They're getting them from EE themselves. If you ring up EE and they won't give you an unlock code then you have no choice. These unlock sites have to make a living too.

Of course I have a choice. I'm exercising it right now.

As far as them making a living - They may want to, but they don't have a 'right' to and it's not my concern either way. It's a free market. If I think they're too expensive, I don't buy. Simples. I feel no guilt, nor responsibility for them making a profit or loss. As a consumer I wait for something I regard as better value and take my business elsewhere, or nowhere.

Nokia very kindly replaced my unlocked Lumia 920 and it is now working.

It is interesting to note that there are clearly firmware differences between my EE version and the unlocked version.

The unlocked seems to have LTE disabled by default as there is no 4G option on the network speed page.

Also it doesn't like my EE SIM much and comes up with "Local Network Operator" instead of EE. Other networks do have the right names.

For now I will keep using my EE version so I can enjoy LTE but I hope that Nokia will enable the unlocked versions with LTE as I'd prefer a phone free FTP, network constrains as far as software upgrades go.

Well I was just saying, if you have an unlocked phone and you 100% need it unlocked then there's only really one way to do it. EE or a 3rd party that gets codes from EE.

There may be some sort of hack at some point, but you risk damaging the phone that way.

Just bought a Lumia 920 off the back of the unlock news. Need to sell the Note 2 on now. Was a nice handset, but too big for a phone and I haven't been getting on with Android at all really - it's focus isn't on the things that are important to me.

Anyone else having issues with Facebook and Twitter not syncing in Me and People hubs?

Only got the phone yesterday and it worked fine at first but this morning none of the Facebook notifications have appeared.

The People hub seems to be crashing when I try to filter the contact list too.

Restart didn't fix either problem.

UPDATE: All resolved. Uninstalling then Reinstalling Skype fixes it. (http://community.skype.com/t5/Windo...s-after-installing-Skype-for-WP8/td-p/1213804)

I'd really like the 820, but I'm only interested in SIM free, where's the best deal for this phone. I've always held back from contracts - thus still have a 9.99 Nokia PAYG. The Lumia 800 looks a good option & Win 7.8 update in new year, and I love the look of that phone.
I appreciate its a 920 thread.

I would get either 820 or 920. Nokia's Facebook* page said that 920 will be available SIM Free in January. 820 is already available.

This is more a Windows Phone 8 question than anything Lumia related, but I'm finding it really irritating having Messenger contacts bleed into my contact list. I can't seem to find a way to hide them without actually deleting them from Messenger!

I've got a few people from WoW guilds that I know purely online. Messenger is the only form of contact I've ever had with them.
I don't want them in my Phone contact list!

Go to the people hub, expand the options list and select 'settings'. Then select 'filter my contact list', from here you can select which contacts lists get pulled into the people hub.

That's the first thing I tried.
The only option in there is to remove Skype contacts, not Messenger.
