Landrover swimming

Don't really understand why this video is newsworthy, or why the police are moaning about it. So someone drove a Defender, a vehicle designed with fording in mind, through a flooded area, successfully - so what?

I don't see why someone with a capable vehicle (though he's probably over the recommend wading depth) can't do that if they want. If you get stuck, that's unfortunate, and we should try to help.

It's not like he tried to go through it in an Audi A6 or something..

Stuff like this is a bit annoying tbh - if we didn't do anything the police or health and safety organisations say we shouldn't do, we'd be living in cold caves.

I've seen people driving defenders with snorkels through 5 feet of water for the fun of it.

No idea why the police think this was irresponsible or dangerous? Surely there's plenty more videos on YouTube they could moan about?

Slow day in police station combined with a slow day in the news room. If I had a defender I'd be loving it every time it flooded or snowed.

Was only just have a look at a defender yesterday, this video makes me really want one for the bad weather.

I think they're just trying to dissuade the general public from deciding they're offroader gods and having legions of people get themselves in trouble thinking 'i could do that too' before promptly failing and requiring ridiculous amounts of money to go and rescue them solely due to their own stupidity or laziness.

I don't blame them tbh. It does encourage it a bit, but unless there's a law against going down closed roads (may well be) surely they can only condemn it

Should have know it was east Anglia lol

To be fair they were driving down a closed road. If it was some other land I doubt they'd have said anything.

not that I care mind!

I watched this earlier in the week when the driver posted up the original video, i was pretty damn impressed, great advert for landrover, i'm sure they will be pleased to see there vehicle used for what its supposed to be used for!

This TBH . i used to pray for as much snow as possible at christmas so we could go out and have some fun in the landy :D

Police would have a field day if they saw what goes on down the Strata Florida in Wales or the Fosse way when it's flooded then if driving down a flooded tarmac road is an irresponsible thing to do..

FFS

:D:D
Fosse way.
