Great video of cheetahs running full speed @ 1200 fps

Not only the head staying so still, they only ever have 1 paw on the ground at any one time when running full pelt.

They are literally flying pretty much. Stunning video and the end bit shown at full speed is just mind blowing.

That is what impressed me the most. In my mind I always thought the front landed together for stability and then the rear 2 would land in tandem and quite of spring board them forward. Not at all though it seems, doesn't seem very efficient in some sense to have that one leg powering off the ground all the time. Until you see it in full speed where it is impossible to tell.

I didn't notice right away but there is a timer in the top left as well, it felt like it was running for ages at one stage but it was only 1.5 seconds in and its feet had landed so many times already by that stage. In less than 1 second its rear legs hit the ground 4 times :o

I watched this being created, was wandering when the finished product would hit the net.

Best part for me was seeing the clock finally hit 1.00 seconds in the first clip, felt like an eternity and the cheetah had been running for a full minute at a slightly slower pace... But 1 second!!! Insane.

They think that there is around 8-10 thousand Cheetahs left in the world, I hope this increases rather than slides, I want a Cheetah now :(
