Win8 Tablets

I've noticed that the price of Acer W500s has gone through the roof in the last week. Looks like that other tech retailer has run out of them at the £250 price they were punting them out at. 2nd hand ones on the bay look to be fetching £300+ now.

Hmm, might have to sell mine on the bay then.
I'm trying to sell mine, but I bought quite a few things with it, so I need to get rid all together with them :p

I've decided to keep my W500 for the foreseeable future, I'm very happy with it. Maybe next Christmas when W700s are £250 i'll upgrade lol

Anyone out there picked up a Vaio Duo? I'm torn between that and the Surface Pro.

Wait for the Surface Pro and then decide.
The Vaio Duo doesn't have a touchpad and instead has a nasty optical nipple thing. No where to store the pen on the device either.

Having read some reviews of it, it sounds a little half-baked to me.

Dell latitude 10 delayed again until 28th Dec , Thinkpad 2 delayed again , will be next year now and no doubt they will be delayed yet again! Delays galore!

mayaswell wait for haswell at this rate! wudn't suprise anyone if that was delayed from a date they set!

Crazy. Christmas is the best time to try to make a dent on apples market share.

I found the Lenovo Yoga 11" in the airport Dixons (Bristol) today.

Its nice, but not as nice as Surface.

I also tried the 13" (i5) in Orlando the other week, and the screen is very nice, but its too big and the screen does not stay put when in the stand mode, you can push it back too easily.

With the 11" its a shame it was not an Atom as its more stable.

I love the Surface more and more with each day, little things like pressing CTRL + C on the on screen keyboard to paste, it is extremely natural as its pure Windows.

Getting to point where I'm considering keeping the RT and getting the PRO!

If you go on the MS store online (America selected) you can see quite a few tablets and they're available at some very decent prices (The W510 was 400 dollars on cyber monday by the looks of it)
What the hell are they playing at with the UK?

Anyone who thinks this has been anything but a catastrophic launch in the UK is kidding themselves.

Looks like the W700 & W510 have been delayed again, into very late December/early January now on various sites. Shambolic launch all round. I never thought that the Surface Pro would appear before the OEM's, and I'm fairly sure Microsoft delayed it deliberately to appease them in the first place. Only for them to moan, then do nothing with it.

In the mean time, Apple release 2 more tablets, and there's no competition from Windows RT besides the Surface, which isn't in stores...

But the W510 etc are available it seems from the MS Store in the US.

It's been 400 dollars.
I don't understand why we're being so utterly destroyed in the UK, the Asus tablet is stupidly priced, Surface I don't find appealing at 400 quid, but that W510 is coming in cheaper in the US, but we're paying through the nose for it and it's not even available.

It seems as though Microsoft have been completely vindicated in getting into the hardware game. I can understand a bit of trepidation from OEMs about exactly which type of device is going to take off, but even taking that into account the showing is still ridiculous.

If just one of them had pulled their finger out they'd have made a killing, because between launch and Christmas it could have been Surface plus A.N.Other tablet pretty much free riding on all the other Windows advertising.

I am on the lookout for a Win8 full version tablet with something like an i3. Really want one now, however, as said, there really is bugger all out there! I would have expected huge sales, but yet, still nothing. Especially in front of chrsitmas! Its incredible how bad a launch it has been.

Looking to get an Iconia w700 when it comes back into stock. Is there much of a difference between pro and non-pro windows 8? As I understand the w700 comes with regular windows 8 (w700p seems to be the pro version but isn't sold here).

Lacks group policy, encryption, side load windows 8 apps, boot from VHd, join a windows domain.
Remote Desktop client only, no host.

So nothing a home user would use.
