Hi guys, theis forum has been quite useful in researching the lumia 920, so i thought id join and give some info....

i sold my s3 this week and bought the lumia 920 red from phones4u knowing full well it would be locked to EE. although the staff in the shop told me it was unlocked to any network, like all of their sim free phones. however when i opened it as i suspected it was locked, ad i rang them up, and all they said was it must be a mistake with the handset, bring it back in and test out my sim in another 920, or exchange or refund it. i didnt go back in, i know it would be a waste of time, besides im too fond of my new 920 to get a refund, so fully prepared to pay for the unlock on. my guess is phones4u are just poorly educating their own staff on their product.

anyway after much lookking around the web, i found three websites that offer the 920 uk unlock for ee, these are:

http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/lumia/index.htm £30 upto 10 days

http://www.myphoneunlockcode.com/nokia/unlock_nokia-lumia_920 £40 upto 10 days

http://www.unlockfrog.com/nokia2013.asp £54 upto 14 days

so being cheapest and the guarantee of my money back if it doesnt work, ive paid fonefunshop for an unlock 2 days ago and awaiting the code.

will let you know the result when it comes

Im suppose to get one free with mine, but you can only apply for it 14 days after purchase, and it takes 28 days to come!

so in the meantime i purchased a cheap one of ebay for £7, i could have got the big one by powermat for less but instead i got the one for the blackberry bold which is smaller,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powermat-Wireless-One-Posn-Charging-Mat-PMM-1PA1-B15-for-BlackBerry-Bold-9700-/360528636107?pt=UK_MP3_Player_Accessories_Chargers_Docks&hash=item53f12e68cb&_uhb=1

it should work with the nokia so i hear

Cant wait for my 920 to arrive next week.

For the ones who have it and the wireless charger, how long in real world terms does it take to charge wireless?

getting mine delivered on saturday. got an email from them saying they would probably miss the UPS pickup tomorrow given the time that the handsets would come in so they are shipping it royal mail next day delivery for saturday, guarenteed.

woohooo

Has anyone gone back to their old phone. I wanted a file off my old S2, I just thought *eww, don't like all the static icons*. So yeah, even though I didn't like the tiles at first, I really like the spinny little buggers now. :)

anyone who does go back to their own phone, dont deserve to live! or use any MS product EVER

I'm an Android user and this will be my first try of windows phone I probably wouldn't have without them having Nokia on board making them.

Gonna sell my S3 as soon as it arrives and get a Nexus 7 I think so I can still have all my Android apps.

Looking forward to the new experience.

To be fair it depends on what you want

On the plus side
I love the hardware, feels premium, size/weight a non issue
I absolutely love the people hub integration, so well thought out/designed
Skydrive works so well
The live tiles are superb
The screen is amazing
Like the camera, though haven't really used it in anger
The nokia apps are superb
OneNote is a joy to use

Don't really have a negative side, though there are a few apps Id like such as tumblr, G+ (really miss this) a decent cycling app, but Im sure they will come
Opening email attachments is an issue

Having said that, I will be buying a 8Gb Nexus 4 when stock is more available, as jellybean is still a very good OS and I want to stay in touch with the android side of things as some of the things they are doing are really cool..

You do know the Archos Gamepad's out next week! £130!!!

Although that is good value for money I don't really game that much to warrant anything with extra controls. I just play puzzle type games for which a touch screen is all that is needed. I would use a tablet mostly for news apps, email, e-books etc with a little bit of gaming, something anyone can use. I think the controls at the side would be annoying for just tablet use and not gaming.
