Following from the air con thread..

How do you remove ice and/or snow in the cold mornings and why?

I'll start..

I normally get a kettle full of water which is cold.. Then start the car and pour the kettle over the screen while using my wipers (or if they're frozen, use a squeegee thing) and get the screen dry before it turns into ice.

Then drive off and let the car warm up without leaving it to idle.

How about you?

For my van: Scrape snow/ice off windscreen with gym membership card, turn engine on with windscreen heater full blast, go back inside for 10 mins, enjoy a warm cab and clear windscreen.

BM car: just leave ignition on for 5 and its cleared and warm.

open car
start engine
blowers on
Scraper for exterior
microfiber cloth for interior(if needed)
jump in and go

couple of minutes max.

Put warm water in an empty 2 liter milk jug and then start the car and put the front and rear on window mode and then let rip with the water and wipers on.

get in the car fire it up,

mess about with taxi radio, sort paperwork for start of shift, organize nav and float and log on. takes 5 mins by which time the car has warmed up and I have clear windows.

wifes focus

hit the heated front and rear screen buttons and stick the heaters on for the rest

Start car, turn on demist and rear window heat, remove cover from windscreen, scrape any ice on rear side windows if needed, get back in car, drive away.
