What's your ice/snow removal strategy?

Cold water normally.

I've never succeeded using de-icer without my inside steaming up to the point where it would have been faster to just scrape the ice off by hand in the first place.

Go out to car, if door seals are frozen shut, hot kettle over them.
Open door, start it up, re-circ and blowers on hot. Lock car with other key.
Walk out to car after breakfast, scrape ice off headlights, indicators and rear lights, get in, drive off with a toasty warm car.

And if it's snowed, then I brush all snow off the car with a soft bristled brush before I start it up to warm up.

Get in. Heaters on. heated seat on. Get out. Lock car. Go back in the house and have a coffee. Get back in car and drive off.

Acid alien blood usually works well. melts the snow and ice well fast.

However it is hard to store in containers so normal just use canned de-icer.

Car, go out to car, start with ignition key, lock doors with valet key , sort out whatever inside house, return to car, unlock & drive off.

I don't like in Pikeyvilie either, but lock it just in case. :)

Truck, leave night heater on low all night, no frozen screen / windows :D

Boil kettle.
Abuse door seals to get in car.
Engine on
Get out and scrape windscreen
Get back in car, cloth down inside of windscreen
Drive to end of street and pray I can see enough.

If no, hold on 2 mins.

If yes, go and stick to less than 3000 rpm.

Go to car on drive
Break ice covering the doors with warm water.
Start car
Heated front and rear screen turn on automatically
heater on auto
scrape side windows as the heated screens are working.
Get in car, use wipers to clear melted ice
Drive away

Car is a mk 4.5 Mondeo

Im one of them who just goes out side and sticks the engine on and goes back in house for 10 minute.

This. Unlike most of the residents around me, I actually use my garage for its intended purpose! :)

Hi, might help if he opened the garage doors first, although then they wouldn't need closing.
-5 temps on weds, get in start car, turn CC onto 'Hi' drive off in less than a minute.

Does running the car with the heaters on when the engine is stone cold cause any damage? I've always been told to not do this and to drive until it's at operating temps before switching the heaters on.
