Hi all,

Just been sent the folllowing:

Apple iPad with Retina (4th Generation) 64Gb with Wi-Fi + Cellular - Black

But it was shipped by Royal Fail (in a special delivery bag, no bubble wrap etc, only the original Apple box for protection) and the box looks like its been dropped. The top right corner is dented and there are a couple of other dents around the box.

My question is would you accept this like this, or would you ask them for a new one to be sent out?

I haven't opened the box yet as I'm concerned that if I do I'll not be able to return it if I do that.

Thanks,

G

I would open to box to make sure it runs fine. Any damage inside the box, I.E the box looks like its touched the ipad in anyway once dinted get it sent back.

Take pictures before you open it showing the seal in place with damage just incase they dont blame you for the damage. Heard this happen before.

If I was in doubt I'd go into my local Apple store (assuming you bought it from them online) and explain the situation. Say what you will about Apple but there instore customer service is impeccable.

Is the product damaged? No?

Then who gives a crap, it's a box.

Do as suggested, take a picture of the seal and then open it to check for product damage.

Further to this.... it looks like a ball ache...

I have spoken to them about this and explained that the box is damaged, they said I have the following options:

1) Send it back....wait for 14 days after they get it back to get a refund... Go elsewhere...

2) Ask for a replacement... They will send me another one out tomorrow and collect the damaged one. They will CHARGE me for the replacement and then refund the original 14 days after they have it back. So for a time I will be an extra £650 out of pocket.

3) Put up with it.

Posts thread about credit card debt. Then buys 660 quid iPad :p

Provided the iPad works fine I would keep it. The box is there to protect it which it probably has done in this case.

Any particular reason why, seems an odd choice of retailer for a product like that?

One simple reason... price...

Instead of paying £659 (from Apple) I will have paid £555.36 for the same thing.

I wouldn't accept nope. If and when you do come to sell the thing, the buyer might be picky about the damaged box.
