Just wondering who has had the worst luck having received their new.
I have had a cracker of a nightmare recently :)

I ordered this lot:

1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card w/ FARCRY3, Sleeping Dogs & Dirt Showdown PC Games £191.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050) £79.99
1 x LG BH10LS38 10x BluRay-RW / 16 x DVD±RW Lightscribe Drive - Black (Retail) £79.98
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) £74.99
1 x Corsair Enthusiast Series TX550M High Performance 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply (CP-9020001-UK) £69.98
1 x Corsair Carbide 300R Mid Tower Case - Black - with FREE Corsair Dual Pack AF120 Performance Fans £64.99
1 x Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1156/1155/1366/AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+/FM1) £59.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £29.99

Out of which......

The 1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) £74.99 did not actually arrive. It was on the shipping list as double checked but OC confirmed that it showed as a double scan and so they removed it from the box leaving me with no hard disk.

The 1 x Corsair Enthusiast Series TX550M High Performance 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply (CP-9020001-UK) would not power up. Even tried the paperclip test - *note* cannot believe we even do this!

It was of course Friday and no one was available to take the delivery on Saturday so I had to wait until Monday for both these items.

So I eventually get it built and running nicely and decide to do some final tests with a game or two. Sleeping Dogs crashed 2 minutes in but as it was renowned as being a bit flakey I tried another demo from steam F1. This crashed also.

All dumps pointed to memory but as it was late, I went to bed.
Got up this morning, machine would not boot up.
Took out one stick of ram, powered up and was stable. Games worked fine (so far).
Put memory back in.... machine would not boot.
Swapped slots, machine would not boot.
Put faulty ram in on own, machine would not boot
Put good stick in on own, machine booted.
Conclusion = Faulty memory.

Went to order more and it goes out of stock!!!!! lol

Anyone else had a nightmare?
Cheer me up :)

Had the same PSU pop on me upon first boot, taking down the entire downstairs power with it. Which managed to break the RAID setup on my NAS requiring it to need rebuilding. Oh what fun that was!

Never had an issue with OcUK orders themselves though and the PSU RMA turnaround was spot on.

Start an RMA with OcUK and get the RAM replaced :)

bad run of luck that mate. go tell 5UB you want an extra 5 packs of haribo with the replacement ram to put a smile back on your face!

(not their fault but you still wants them!)

don't tell me you didnt get any haribo with order either?

I ordered a few things including a new heatsink and arctic silver 5 thermal paste. Opened up my delivery and no arctic silver was included in the order! Luckily the heatsink come with a tube so it was all good and I didn't have to fuss around trying to get some thermal paste. Posted in the Customer Serice forum and got the missing arctic silver 5 the very next day. Awesome service.

Rebuilding NAS must have been utter grief....:(

I am up to my eyeballs in haribos. They are flipping everywhere :)
To be fair I did also get some free fans which were included with the case as a special but I would have rather had the hard drive.

Not had a problem with OC RMA stuff before so not blaming them.
Only real pain in the backside is that I had to buy everything again or wait until they test and refund me. I bought everything again and I am yet to send everything faulty back but this is not fair on the younger generation who may not be able to do this.

Of course I understand that there are allot of people saying items are broken when they are not but there must be a better way.

Any more bad luck stories? :)

Update:

OC sent me out replacement ram urgent for next day as I have not been able to use machine for 7 days.

Trouble is they sent it to the wrong address.
Furthermore it has been signed for and I know the house is empty!

What a joke.
Had to message management now...... see what they say...

remember when things look like they can't get any worse, they normally do, trouble comes in 3's + and if anything bad is going to happen it will be at the weekend or after shops are shut, you know its true.

was going to say god must be a woman but thought better of it after GF just slapped me :)

How did they send it to the wrong address? Hope you get it sorted soon.

Ordered a 7950, decided to return it. When I was fitting my old gfx card back in I snapped a component off it. Now running a 260gtx, bf3 is oodles of fun now lol.

I have no idea but the address they have sent it to was the 'card' address not the delivery address so I suspect they have a flaw in their system somewhere.

Also, check how the Hard Disk was supplied:

Small brown box, obviously damaged

Crushed corner of box

Hard Disk bubble wrapped only once on one side of which all bubbles were popped as in picture:

This has seriously got my back up.

Its not right though.
Companies go to great lengths to make these drives in protective environments and build in a level of shock resistance. I dont suppose they account for the postman or delivery driving letting it slide around his van all day, dropping parcels on it etc.

The drive I bought its a 2TB, so you can image that I would hope it would be around for a while. Sensitive photos etc could all get lost because of this sort of feeble attempt and proper packaging.

Just an update.
This all got sorted in the end and OC agreed that packaging was poor.
They replaced all faulty items and the hard disk in the end.
