As title really i recently just got a wf3 7950 and am intrested in what others think about there card and what overclocks they managed to get from them and also if they have any issues maybe the joint knowledge in here could help with problems, overclocks and general curiosity:D

so i guess i will start:

6850 compared to 7950 love the look of this card didnt think i would like it looked really plasticky and cheap in the pics but looks different when u get to see it properly and the cooling heatsinks look fantastic.

havent had any time to test the card at all only put the 12.11 drivers and caps on and taken some photos but so far it seems quite and running at 26c currently browsing through hw monitor and 26c on cpuz running standard clocks and a asic of 59.9%.

just got back from a friends wedding so a bit drunk so only managed to get these pics and data so far so will game and possibly try some oc's tomoorow.

a quick test before bed looks like roughly 1000 core is max with no extra volts does this seems low? as im a little dissapointed tbh havent touched the memory yet.

will have a play tomorrow hope i can get atleast 1150 on the core .

USEFUL TIP'S INFO
some handy info and how to for msi afterburner to increase the limits of the oc sliders "the official way" so stops the flashing screens and non saving of profiles:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18431335

the 7950's are not voltage locked but the newer 7970's are.

1.3v is max recomended voltage on the core.

i have to say im very very impressed with how quiet this card is and how cool it run's the vrms at 1450 havent gone above 62c! and the core hasnt gone above 57c when i was running 1200/1450 at 1.25v sadly it locked up at this clock speed not sure if to put a little more volts into it temps are perfectly fine but seems like a lot of volts to be pushing what do u guys think? is there much benefit getting to 1200 over 1150?

nice little overclocking article(thanks tron)
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/radeon_hd_7950_overclock_guide,1.html

thanks had a little read of that
i put some more volts through her 1.237 and its now fine came on here and was suggested the same so did something right!

1150/1450 @1.237v with load temps of max 64c sits around 61c.

very impressed with this cooler keeps things very cool and quite.

is ther much point/benefit of pushing the memory further for a 24/7 clock? or will i see no difference in game?

so far im at these clocks and think im going to leave it at that for 24/7 use:

running 1150/1550 @1.237v load temps of 65c.
pretty damn happy with this card.

so what clocks, temp's and volts are you guys using? put your asic scores up so we can see if they actually relate to performance/efficiency :D

1150 would seem fine. That's a near 50% overclock over stock. Both my TFIII V2s did 1250 on the core and 1800 on the memory individually (possibly more) but I was limited by heat due to the MSI issue with these cards.

I run my replacement HIS at 1100 24/7 and it doesn't get above 70c in FC3 with the radiator on and with the compute based lighting effects enabled.

Hi, nice thread, thanks chris got the msi afterburner working without getting the problems,

i got mine at 1150 mhz gpu 1.2v and memory 1575 mhz , i just set this up right away, tried sleeping dogs which seems to take a lot of power, ran its benchmark and played for 20mins was fine, but aint got time but when i can play longer will check temp etc,

i was happy for 1ghz on gpu which i would settle for,

one thing i noticed when i start computer, and look at gpu the clock is at 900mhz ?? even though i have msi afterburner to start on start up and apply overclock, but doesnt , i have to load from start menu then shows 1150 on gpu ?

Thanks

Well I have the 7970 wf3 if that counts and it doesn't seem to go over 64c in games and a lot quieter than my xfx 6970. I run it at 1150/1650.

My WF3 7950 is stable at 1150 1.2v in everything except Far Cry 3, in FC3 anything over 1000 on the core goes into a never ending driver recovery loop as soon as i start the game :-/

FC3 will run 1000 at stock volts all day but anything higher no matter what the voltage its a goner.

Hi, i just got far cry 3 that i will be trying on later today, mines at 1150 1.2v will report back how i get on

I agree its crazy my gpu overclock was Heaven and 3d mark 11 stable but as soon as i ran Farcry 3 well that just made it clear it wasnt.

I had my Gigabyte 7950 wf at 1225mhz core 1700mhz mem and even with 1.3vcore it was artifacting a lot despite the temperatures being okay.It seems to take a lot of volts to get it over 1.2ghz let alone stable but thats just my card.

Far Cry 3 does seem to hammer cards. It's far better for ramping up temps for me than heaven or BF3 are.

Can't really say it shows up instability more for me, as I am not really overclocking my 670's cores (all have done is up the power usage to 111%, and upped the memory by 500)

Im beginning to wonder if its a driver bug causing Far Cry 3 to crash the driver with an Oc on as i can leave heaven looping for over an hour without issue but FC3 crashes the driver almost as soon as i start the game.

Sleeping Dogs on Extreme settings gets the temps up highest for me but that is also stable at 1150 1.2v :-/

Nice card, :) may i suggest you put it in a PCIe slot closer to your PSU? if you have one?

Its very to the CPU HS, it will be sucking in hot air from the GPU, also move that HDD right up to the top of the rack, it does not need cooling, all its doing sitting there is disrupting air flow.

Hi, just tried Far Cry 3 and updated it with patch 1.2 and loads fine, my 7950 at 1150 / 1575 1.2v , but the game runs very choppy, i have turned the v sync on etc, as im using a 1080p 60hz monitor, even when selecting low is still choppy ? any ideas ?

I found this in game when I had just not given the card enough volts would still play and not crash but wouldn't be smooth had to up the volts a little and it seemed to cure it.

Was this post for me? If so I believe I have got enough slots but I think it's only 8x not 16x so would not be worth it have been wanting to move that hdd just haven't got round to it may do it tonight.
Thanks for the advice.

Yes it is :) i believe 8x is fine, all mine are 16x so i can't test that but as far as i know AMD run in 8x mode anyway.

All you can do is try it.
