AMD HD7870 LE

But where does it fit in price wise?

~£190 for a 7870
~£240 for a 7950

So I guess in the £215 range? Makes it quite an awkward sell tbh.

So, originally dubbed the 7930, AMD is releasing a 7870 LE. From what I understand a cut down 7950.

Not quite sure what will happen with pricing, as there seems to be no space in the line up as is.

Seems good, but whatever Drivers they used, and they don't say, they are not 12.11, not with the standard 7870 getting 6500 GFX points in 3DMark11.

I also don't understand why they benched BF3 at 5760 x 1080 only.

If what Gibbo said is true, then just look at the Stream Proccesors count, the standard 7870 has 1280 while this new one has about 1500.

Judging from the spec, if we ignore the part of higher default memory and core clocks than the 7950 (considering we can overclock cards ourselves), the 7870 LE is basically a cutdown 7950 with 256 fewer shader and 256-bit memory bus instead of 384-bit.

So unless these are much cheaper than the 7950, then people would probably still be better off getting the 7950.

Thought it had 1500 shaders, its advertised as 1280 which makes it the same as a 7870.

Edit: yeh read the review, well some of it, does have 1500 and other xtra bits and bobs.
