2012 - Do not buy titles

MOH yeah, I understand that, but MW3, I'm hocked and really enjoy it. Campaign was short, could have been a lot longer.

What was wrong with it? Different to what you expected?

Ive just completely gone off the series. Im one thats played it from the beginning with original COD.

The last one I enjoyed was the first Modern Warfare. Since then its just got more and more ridiculous and yet the same game at the same time.

I like a sense of realism. This video just sums it up for me:

Battlefield 3 just puts the last few games to shame. Gameplay, Graphics, Multiplayer; everything.

COD is now, especially online... shoot,kill,die,spawn,repeatevery=2secs

Rant over.

There is no way BF3 should be considered a "do not buy". Total dramatisation.

MoH though.... Don't blow your money LO

As much as I can see your point and watching that video highlights its lack of realism...im not sure why people hate on COD so much....I havent played one since Black Ops, but thats mainly because im not the biggest fan of FPS shooters.

BUT COD serves its purpose...there clearly are a large number of people who love the series and the direction is goes in, which is why it sold $1 billion in sales in just 15 days.

If people dont like its effective annual cloning, they just dont have to buy it....they can play BF3 or carry on playing the previous version.

More the fact that the mindless cloning, talentless developers and awful IP and complete destruction of the FPS genre is starting to make other developers follow suit in other games/genres in order to mass appeal to the mass (idiots) for bigger sales, gaming never used to be like that until CoD.

So far, this trend of selling to idiots for millions/billions of $ has almost ruined The Elder Scrolls, completely ruined Mass Effect, took a huge chunk out of Dragon Age 2, which may bury the franchise. It massively leads to little innovation all around from the big companies as they realise they just don't have to sink time, effort and money into innovation at all because there are so many thick people out there who don't want it.

This is exactly what i tried to say in another thread about EA but got shot down! If only these forums had "Like" buttons.

I think thats the trend for everything....not just games.

Movies are similar, as the big IP name sells and the quality doesnt have to be there as long as the visuals.

But im interested to see what people would want to change with COD say on the next edition? Because if they changed it too much youy would have equally as many people moaning.

Will be interesting to see what BF4 is like.

btw im not dissagreeing with you guys at all....just wondered why people hate it so much, as I dont really play it yet it seems popular on the figures side of things.

Back to basics. Make a realistic fps about War. Done.

Hopefully BF4 will be epic. But, I think in the relatively rushed time frame they've had to make it.. it will be much the same as BF3.. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, aslong as they dont make a habit of it.

The only movies I can really think that would apply to are the Transformer movies as they are incredibly dull (but admittedly pretty). Otherwise pretty much every movie I've watched recently was brilliant. Universal Soldier (admittedly not a AAA title) for example has innovated a lot into the franchise recently and added some really good mechanics, like first person perspectives (been done before, but still...), better story, much better fighting and better acting talent.

Not that I don't agree though, some movies are awful yeah but music is a better example, just go turn on the radio and hear the crap you'll be fed, or look at the tracks on the latest chart albums, eurgh.

I actually think the next CoD [might be alright, mainly because its Infinity Ward and it'll have a brand new engine apparently, it's the fact that even in 2012 the game is using an almost vanilla version of a 2007 engine which limits the games so much, and they haven't bothered changing that because sheep are sheep. Infinity Ward are the only ones who innovate (admittedly Modern Warfare 2+3 weren't exactly brilliant) due to the fact they are the ones who bother to push the series forward with a new engine, Treyarch just take said engines and change textures.

BF4 will probably stay king, just because it has the winning formula of gigantic battles, which is something it won't abandon and is the one thing which sets it apart from CoD, which is basically a 2 story building with 16 people crammed in it, hopping around with dual Mp5s, putting more bullet holes in the walls than there are bricks.

btw im not disagreeing with you guys at all....just wondered why people hate it so much, as I dont really play it yet it seems popular on the figures side of things.

Because Treyarch built the brick wall that most of the AAA market is crashing into when they took on Infinity Wards engine and did nothing with it other than add WW2 visuals, and found out it sold a crap load because nobody wants innovation as long as they can feel successful without having to do anything thoughtful or skilful.

The whole cod hating thing is tiresome, yet I know where they're coming from. It's the same with films. Transformers, Avatar, Twilight etc... Awful films, yet, they make loads of money.

Depressing yes but life is stressful enough without worrying about the crap you don't like. Just concentrate on what you do, accept the fact that **** sells and move on with your lives.

I don't like the phrase 'Do not buy' As it implies I'm forcing my opinion on others, but the game that disappointed me the most, and I wouldn't recommend, is I Am Alive.

I had pretty high hopes when I saw trailers for it, finally gets released after a ludicrous amount of time, and it just disappointed me brutally, I thought the combat was really clunky, (I had it on PC) also felt some mouse lag a lot of the time on it. At least it wasn't an AAA that cost an arm and a leg.

I'd love to say Black Ops II, but my expectations for the CoD series was in the ground way before the release of it, so no disappointment. Although MP seems a bit more fun than the last one, I've not played all that much.

DayZ, god im sick to death of hearing about that game.

Call me old fashioned but I don't believe free mods belong in a 'do not buy' thread

My list:
GW2 - the only part of this game that was fun was leveling. There is no endgame and dungeons suck
Skyrim - yet another inventory sim from Bethesda. When will they understand I don't want to spend half my time deciding which items to keep and which to delete? I just want to play
