Being Fat / Getting Fat..

I was once fat at 19 stone after quitting smoking and a very long mental illness . Took me 2 very long and hard years to get back down to 12 stone toned . Now i have to watch very carefully what i eat .And i hardly eat anything ,In-fact i go days sometimes without eating because im afraid of getting porky again . Being fat isnt nice
 
I have put on loads of weight last 2 years from excessive larger drinking, grolsch, heineken and becks. I used to be very thin but not anymore but i do have one of those bodies that tends to just put weight primarily on the stomach, so i end up looking like a pregnant man before i fill out side ways. Although my sister says that i have got wider and bigger which is a good thing, i just need to turn this in to muscle now.
 
Building muscle and losing fat at the same time are (unfortunately) two different objectives and very rarely happens at the same time. Some say it can be done (only for a short period) if you're a beginner but it stops early.

Some recommend a heavy weight lifting routine (e.g. Stronglifts) for fat loss. You'll burn a lot of energy doing such a intense workout.

I imagine medication didn't help? Mine really made me pile on the pounds. :(
 
:( I no its not ,but been doing it so long now its just normal to me .
kwerk would tell you that it's good; he's into Intermittent Fasting. He's also suffering from intermittent explosive disorder, which is an unrelated and much more serious affliction.
 
Just went to hire a dinner suit for an event coming up and when measured realised I am now a 36" waist :(

Probably up from about 32" a year or so ago, and now at 13 stone. I'm about 5ft 10 so that probably classes me as obese lol.

Time to go on a diet I think!!
 
i doubt he's under eating if he's 12 stone, unless he's over 6' tall.

If he can go days without eating it sounds like he's in good health. I suspect most people in this thread couldn't miss 2 meals without going hypoglycemic.
 
I have to say, from a fitness point of view, I cannot agree with fasting. No food means that you will struggle when you attempt to run/cycle or lift weights. You simply cannot function at full power in a fasted state.

Going multiple days without eating while being 'careful' what he eats the rest of the time.. Yeah i'm gonna go ahead and stick with my view he will be under eating. If he was pigging out to make up the average calories on other days i wouldn't mind so much.
 
heck most people in the thread probably go hypoglycemic after eating. I doubt sniperone will need a 2 hour nap after he eats christmas dinner.

He implied that he's stable at 12 stone so if he's not losing weight he's not under eating. He's just running his liver full out every so often, the way it's meant to be run. I'm sure a few people have done low/zero carb ketosis and run their liver full out before, but you don't get the same insulin sensitivity benefits as proper fasting. In fact a lot of stuff seems to suggest keto increases insulin resistance so when you do eat a bunch of carbs you feel like crap.

Now go read the reserch that is refrenced in the article, and the article is rubbish. It's taken low level frequent drinking and applied that to all alcholo consumption. Even the reserch says outside of that it can contribute to increase weight due to calories.
