2012 Mac Mini

Ordered my mini last night should have it tomorrow! Excited about learning all about OS X

Need to decide over what KB to go for now and get the apple mice too :D
Where did you order it from and which version did you go for?

I'm looking for a white 16GB wifi only and they are sold out everywhere.
In fact, except for the 64GB 3G ones, all of them are sold .

^ Hes talking about Mac Mini not iPad Mini :p

We just got the base Mac Mini at work and I have to say really impressed by it, really tempted to get rid of the big beast under my desk for one of these silent little blocks of aluminium :D

Will have to see how much I can get for my PC!

Yeah ive got the Mac Mini :p

I've never used one but I can recommend a Star Tech mini DP to DVI adapter. I have used one in the past with my MBP to connect to older monitors

Photography folks

I intended to setup the LR catalogue on an external HDD, but it does look like you can :(

I dont really want to put the catalogue on the internal drive as that will soon fill up. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Basically some people were having problems with the mini on some displays through HDMI, so it wouldn't "look right".

I was mucking about with my mini on sunday afternoon (playing FM on the tv via hdmi) and only found that the colour looked rubbish and it took ages to get it to scale to a readable setting. Mostly that was my tv though.

Anyway no idea what snow screen is, but the screen flickering was something that has happened to me randomly where it would just turn my screen to black every so often (usually when my iphone when into the wall charger which made zero sense), but I assume they are all sort of linked to this firmware update.

Hopefully it helps with the hd4000 performance because 90% it is great and occasionally it cripples its self for no reason and nothing works properly.

Apple have just released a firmware fix for the flickering screens.

Anyone know what is meant by 'snow' display?

I assume snow screen is when the display completely its out and just displays a snowy static like screen, you had to unplug and replug the cable to get it to work, it was annoying. Also looks like I wasn't the only one suffering from it :)

Ah yeah I get ya, like on the old TV sets.

So it fixed your problems UnworthyBean? Hurrah! Anyone else tried it?

Updated about an hour ago, no issues. Although saying that I had one 1 second black-out in about 48 hours from new.

OT but has any used the in-built calibration?

anyone who has tried the update, are the colours correct? I am on MDP-HDMI and have had to use an program called Gamma control to sort the problem out

EDIT: just installed it on my machine, rebooted and still the same, black screen!

back to MDP - HDMI (with gamma corrected settings!!) bloody crap
