People that can't hold their drink

there kinda is...ID:p

I think his point is that you could get points like a driving licence. If you're caught drunk and disorderly, you get one point, drunk driving (depends on how far over you are, but points on both licenses), abusive whilst drunk - x number of points, physically abusive whilst drunk - x number of points

etc..

After hitting a certain number of points your licence is revoked. You can no longer be served.

Sorted.

Not at all. A license implies it can be taken away (id cant be) and id does not have to be shown.

lol true ...too late for me to think straight or even try to.

but thats actually a really good idea what you suggested....people should get points on it too, just like a drivers license.

That's it. We've decided.

Burnsy, we've come up with a solution to your problem :)

You just need to action it :)

The problem of course is actually people buying drinks for their mates.. but still....

I don't drink much any more, mainly because I get very annoyed about people who simply can't hold their drink. I get frustrated with the number of both men and women, often young who end up on the side of the road covered in their own sick, semi conscious and unable to look after themselves.

This is also why i don't drink. usually i'm one of the people that ends up in a state. although i have never been in a situation where i have been carted off by police or had an ambulance called, i have been in a situation where i've passed out from it. (luckily i had a few older friends around me at the time.)

It was an eye opener for me, and i don't understand why people who go out and do it time and again, carry on doing it.

That, and i also think its a huge waste of money. (why go out and spend £40-60 to have 'fun' when you can stay in and do it for a tenner?)

Why is this a reason for YOU not to drink much any more?

It was well odd to begin with. But in Australia there's a three shot limit and although you can buy a round, everyone has to be stood at the bar, so they can see who drinks it.
Varying degree of enforcement, depending where you are.

It's not about holding ones drink, it's the idiots who go overboard. Everyone has limits yet some believe it's an act of strength to continue drinking to the point of passing out and becoming a bother.

I've always found a few **** of good ***** helps to keep you in a controlled state when drinking heavily.:o:p Whoops! now the cats out of the bag! I Must add that I haven't indulged in such a way for many years. I'm now strictly a slippers and ovaltine lad!

A ban on alcohol will never go through, regardless of what it causes just like smoking which kills thousands a year and adds absolutely no positives to society. They create a lot of revenue for the Gov, the second they realise just how much Cannabis will net them with VAT from volume of sales and other fees such as licences and substance, that'll be flooding your local corner shop, just give it 5-10 years.

Alcohol tax makes about £8bn a year while tobacco tax makes about £12bn. Calculating the cost of treating alcohol and tobacco related ilnesses is the difficult part. Just a quick Google found 1 page where someone calculated alcohol tax minus cost of treatment was a net gain of £2bn, while someone else calculated it was a net £2bn loss.

One thing that's been missed though is the alcohol industry itself. I wonder how much the manufactur and distribution is worth to the UK economy? You would wipe out every bar and pub in the UK with a ban, and all the jobs and everything that goes with it.

There's plenty of proper Police work to go around, trust me.

But who will pay for it without money from alcohol addicts ? Who would employ the 100s of thousands behind the industry etc .

The problems these people who can't handle and look after themselves cause are bad but they are very much in the minority

Like with drugs it's usually better education that's needed . I'd bet on most the people you see in hospitals and cells on a Friday night being 'that' same type of person

Don't get me wrong, when I was a student I very much drunk to excess, but I never passed out, I never couldn't get home and I could always more or less look after myself. I never got in a fight, I never needed and ambulance and always had friends who would stick together to make sure everyone got home safely.

Why can't people have some self responsibility?
Same here,

I know my limits, OK - it's what may be considered an excessive amount to some, but I'm never sick, never pass out & never need assistance (perhaps lots of cups of tea made for me the day after by the mrs :P).

Exactly, it's knowing when to stop (to prevent being a burden to others).

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's the ones who take the 'holier-than-thou' attitude. If you were perfect and never did any wrong you would be justified in looking down on people, but you're not so just don't do it. And if someone drinks too much one night then they should be helped. I mean, if someones crashes their car, should we deny them help because 'they should've known better'? Come on.

The problem lies in the opening hours. It's ridiculous that numerous officers have to keep watch in a town centre up down this country every Friday and Saturday night when they could be dealing with more urgent pressing matters. And the mess these kids leave in town is atrocious. I'd make them all clean it up the next day. Starting giving these ***** community service that'll teach them/

Our hospitals A&E department has around 250 to 300 patients every day and over 1/3 are alcohol related.

One of the biggest issues with this country at the moment. Smokers are reviled left right and centre, yet binge drinking is encouraged. Society needs to start looking at itself.

Idiots ending up in a crumpled mess propped against a corner coated in their own puke drooling and crying IMHO should either be a) left there b) Arrested (DnD) c) made to pay any and all expenses in taking them to hospital and treatment.

When it hits them in the wallet people might think twice about being dribbling messes that can't talk nor remember where they are. Yeah so night out... £50 on drink £380 on ambulance and other assorted fee's. They won't be getting into a mess again anytime soon.
