What do you think of the 90s?

Remember this in about 1993. Good stuff. Drunk times.

I didn't even need to play that to know who it was. Favourite song as a child :D

I grew up in the 90's so generally I thought it was a good time because I had no responsibilities like bills etc, I was naive to any bad stuff going on in the world and the evenings consisted of dancing around to cheesy music with my sister :D

I became an auntie at the age of 10 and then again at 12. Got our first pc in '96 and Tv seemed a lot better back then as well. (Brian Conley show)

It did seem a more carefree time but if I was there as an adult that opinion could change.

Teenager/Uni in the 90s...

So mostly very awesome...

Great REAL music no Xfactor or pop idol crap.
TV was still ok i think.
I didnt waste my life and spare time on Forums and PC gaming.
N64 was still awesome ....
Shell suits in the early 90s...
John Major...
jeez i cant rememmber the early 90s but im sure it was still awesome...

Did you sing into a hairbrush? This is important.

Of course! If you're not singing into a hairbrush you're not doing it right :o

Thinking back I agree about the bad fashion. When I was about 6/7 my mum stuck me in tartan style trousers  no wonder I ended up wearing black in my teens!

Born in '91.

The music, the hair, the clothes.

Definitely a 90's child xD

My favourite era of music is actually probably 70s, but the awful, spice girls, venga boys teenage dirtbag will always have a soft spot in my heart...

kd

being born in 1990 doesnt enable you to experience the 90s lol you werent even able to do anything without an adult for the entire decade

Was a Brilliant decade, Untold money about, Even a brickys laborer could earn a decent wage & afford a mad weekend out. Raving had properly kicked in & my crowd & many others got all loved up & mixed for the first time ever without trouble.
Epic weekends were had where we fought for our right to party playing Cat & Mouse games with Old Bill.
These times will Never return again, Groups of young people from all over London & all over the Country will never know how it was in the beginning they just have a faded image of it that's been ruined & trampled by commercial sources.
Music was still real then & so was life & a working man could look forward positively to the future, That is all ****** now.

I mourn the loss of the 90's the Original Ravers, The mellow folk that wanted what I wanted. Peace love & a place we could all party together without blokes kicking **** out of each other & somewhere women could go where they could be free without the usual idiot attitude of males.
Really was a special time, Shame it only lasted just over 2 years. :(

I was born 88 so the majority of the 90s I don't remember in much detail really but from looking back after getting into clubbing from about 18-22 it looks like the 90s were a pretty sweet time if that was your thing.

The 80s seem better for cool teen films and retro gaming etc. Other than those two things nothing springs to mind as worth a mention but I was 2-11 years old in the 90s so probably didnt live them to the required level for a better opinion :p

I was born in 1984 and IMO was still too young to appreciate the 90s (6 in 1990) Sure, I was a child in the 90s with great cartoons and video games but if I was born in 1874, being 16 in 1990 then I think I could have appreciated it a lot more

Sure, I had a great time in the mid 2000s but for me I think I missed a generation of people and atmosphere that will never return. I was even a bit too young for the start of Gatecrasher and crasher kid phase.

What I did get was a good 3 or 4 years of Goodgreef nights and a few years ago some fantastic Dubstep nights (before it all got really commercial)

This pretty much sums it up for me....

You make it sound like it was all partying and everyone was rolling in money. It wasn't what I remember. Interest rates at 16%, repossesions at record levels, high unemployment, manufacturing demolished. Yeah awesome.

Much better rock music, much better social life and life in general but bad tech, bad media and half of Britain was fried on drugs. Watch some 90ies TV just to see how high off their face everyone was - you'd come back from crazy night in illegal bars and clubs around town, turn on TV and see Paul O'Grady dressed in pink ballerina outfit with massive blonde wig interview some confused toff on morning TV, they would cut into commercial featuring orange men doing something stupid and scream "You've been Tangoed" and then Channel 4 would promptly cut to Lilly Savage as Mary Poppins suspended from a crane somewhere by river Thames. It was nuts.

Best thing about 90ies - most of us had no mobile phones but we knew exactly where to find each other all the time and were better for it.
Worst thing about 90ies - Moonchester dwellers thought they had talent (drugs probably). Ministry Of Sound and eurothrash pop everywhere (probably still drugs). What is Love? Baby don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. No. Mo. (now it's stuck in your head)

Sucks to be you. There were certainly jobs around if you were good enough or willing to move/travel (I moved to Germany for work). Fantastic music, fun cars like mk1 and mk2 Escorts to drive, CB radios and everyone went out rather than spoke on Facebook.

Although i love my life now for different reasons (job, family) the 90s were a fantastic time culturally for those who embraced it.

The best thing about the 90's was that A/S/L? was a genuine strategy for a hot young guy to meet hot ... old? ... dudes!
