Baroness Thatcher in Hospital

So she was in hospital to have an operation which went well but they are keeping her in an extra few days... Slow news day.
 
Hopefully she'll get through it, as you said, regardless of your opinion on her political standpoint, what she achieved, and did was hugely impressive (whether you agree with it or not)

Would she be so highly regarded if she wasn't a woman? I'm reading more into her policies and actions. She certainly put things into motion which we definitely feel the effects of today.

I hope she gets better soon.

In the event of her death, why does she deserve a state funeral? Would she receive a state funeral if she was a male PM?
 
While I wouldn't wish death upon anybody, I not going to pretend someone is great just because they are close to death.
 
Hated her years ago, nothing's changed. I wonder how many people who are saying how fantastic she was actually remember how she screwed over the country.

I remember. Nothing less than a stake through the heart would finish her off.

Yeah most here are too young to actually understand the social upheaval she and her cabinet was responsible for.

I dont wish anyone to die but im sure there's a few 100 thousand people that do.

It's hard to judge but I respect her not for who she is but rather what she did. Personally I think she does deserve a state funeral but as I'm about to say below, a lot of people let their emotions cloud judgement. I think her reputation will be looked at more positively when she's gone unfortunately but that's just the way people are.

I didn't live it (or at least wasn't of anahe to fully comprehend it) but I think that puts me in a better position to evaluate it as I don't have the emotional involvement that clouds a lot of people's views.
