Hi

Spent the last 20 mins trying to figure out to activate a AC2 on uplay? It aint no Steam

Unlike AC3 where you get a downloader on your order i just got CD key for AC2? Anyone know how on earth do you activate it ?

This Ubi Link is meant to help but on step 4 -5, how do you switch to right game?

Anyway any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Well finally figured it out almost took me an hour and i dont think it even the best way. As i couldn't follow the guide in the above link to work

Unlike steam you cant just activate the game with a cd key in uplay, I had to go to their website (not ubishop) it the support website (really wtf??) and lookup my order number (authenticate with your uplay password) and then you have to look up details of order and you should see the option for the game downloader for your game.

Even then it not obvious, you have to then right click (yes right click) save the exe, if you dont want to start downloading immediately.

Once you download the full game from the ubi downloader exe, it should then link into uplay and then you should get a chance to use the "bloomin" cd key.

Man what a complete hassle as the most annoying thing is, it is not obvious, what a completely user unfriendly system, in future sticking to the simplicity with steam if i can help it.

Phew (hope that helps anyone else)

far too many on atm, so a lot failing, just might be time of year etc, as it does work fine most of the time

Not having a rant as you, however I dont see how it could work? It not like their platform links to the game in any obivous way, Yes in the uplay you can go to a game but unless i am mistaken there no obvious way to choose or switch to your game, hence their need for the downloader exe to be seperately downloaded?

I work in IT and it still took me almost an hour. so surely it could be easier for your average non IT gamer?

That just means you know how it should have been put together not how they put it together :p

Designing things to have as little logic as possible is the way forward.

True, I do find it hard to believe they are games distributor and they dont have a platform to distrbute games? lol that insane :D

how on reath are they going to compete with the like of steam.

must be just me then, as it worked fine for me, must have just been lucky, the first as im normally very unlucky, if its going to go wrong, its normally with me

Can you at least elaborate? How was it good and can you describe what you had to do to get access to your game?

Basically uplay is different than steam in that you cannot download game from uplay unless you already own it there, and you can only own it by either buying it there directly, or downloading it from somewhere else, running it and then inputting the serial key.

I just today bought on amazon Ghost Recon Future Soldier:

1) downloaded the game via amazon downloader
2) installed the game to new folder
3) ran the game, uplay started and asked for serial key
4) input serial key, now the game is associated with my uplay account and in the future I can download it from uplay and not from amazon
5) apply 5 patches
6) play the game and be angry about its bad optimization

However this system is really stupid, both Steam and Origin allow direct registering of serial key and downloading games.
I am fairly sure Ubisoft is going to implement this as well, they would be stupid not to.
