As title, can't help thinking the steam christmas sale is a tad dissapointing this year.

There's a lack of truly special deals, the thq collection is the only one thats really special. Theres a smattering of good deals like the tomb raider pack and the indie super mega pack but nothing really standout apart from the thq collection.

I'm sure it was better last year? Anyone else feel the same way.

Because over the last few big sales, everyone's bought everything they could want from the back catalogue, so all there is left of interest is games released since the last sale, and there's only a couple of those.

A few years ago I went crazy at xmas and bought about 15 games, I can't name 15 games I'd want that I don't have right now. I doubt deals are actually any worse, it's just that we all have the games now from past sales.

Why is there nothing extra like the gift hunt we had last year, just feel there's no effort with this one at all.

thq collection is awesome though, shame I own most of the games.

Oh well I never paid any attention to any of that gimmicky crap anyway

Does seem a bit - "well we'd better put something on offer" - the bethseda collection is pretty decent........ if you don't already own most of the titles... which most people do :S

I've bought max Payne 3 and saints row the third season pass, but I haven't been interested in anything else.

I'm not too bothered though, I got quite a few games to get through. Will probably buy far cry 3 if it gets a good price anywhere

Gimmicky? I don't know about others but that was one of my favorite part of the deals. It gave you a bit of an incentive to buy and play a game you may have not otherwise bought, now all they've got is these badges where the only difficult thing is voting 15 times.

The more you buy, the less you need. :-)

I rarely play a game all the way through these days, and many of the titles which could tempt me (Walking Dead, Borderlands2, etc) are a long way off the bargain basement pricing I want to justify a partial playthrough... or, even worse, a place on my pile of shame.

So far I've spent nothing this time. But then my pile of shame is even longer than a trip to the bathroom on Boxing Day.

A lot of the games I've bought in previous sales were a punt for the money, so if I didn't like them it wasn't a problem. It's got to the stage now where I don't even want to buy much at all, even though it might be cheap. I'm sticking to buying titles that I know I'll be able to immerse myself into, eg. fps // fps / rpg - with those genres, I'm more forgiving about any shortcomings, where as with almost all rpgs or otherwise, I struggle to find the enthusiasm to play.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package

All I've bought so far, tempted with Max Payne 3.

Not enough 75% deals going on, but come to think of it paying £9.99 for non-budget Spectrum games back in the 80's, I think we are kinda blessed in terms of prices, considering how good games are now.

I bought the THQ pack, that was a cracking deal.!! Couldnt recommend it more if you dont have majority of the games.

I think it worked out to be £5 to £2.50 per main titles i wanted.

I have no money to spend until the 28th, so I am kind of glad. I am hoping the good stuff shows up at the end of the sale :)

The sale is pretty pants, but that's because

1) The 2 games I want haven't came up
2) Nothing is taking my fancy, same old, same old..

It's pathetic compared to last year, should have been similar at least, i don't know what they were thinking, they didn't have to give away so much but it should be a yearly event now, perhaps it's a sign they're starting to go bad like others?

It's mostly down to the fact over the 3/4 sales a year most people have picked up what they wanted; I know I have hence not getting much this year. There's only been a few big titles (Hitman, Dishonoured, BL2, AC3, FC3, etc...) and a few of them have already hit 50% off.
