Ok, So I bought a Google Nexus 7 for my daughter for Christmas.
She wanted the Disney 'Brave' movie so I bought it for her, using her Christmas money via the Google Play store.

The purchase was made using my PC, but my daughters account.
She is unable to watch the movie unless I enable Google Wallet on her Nexus 7 - not likely!!

What a total crock - please tell me there is a work round.

Should have gone Apple or Windows - Google is Evil, in the same way Cybernet is evil!! (Terminator films)

Edit - link did not contain instructions, will edit a new one in when I find it.

Type "google wallet password protect" in google, the first link is google and will show you a video of how to do it.

Put a password on purchases, you can use EDF38ijh238DFLK343uowjedh93£FJ9ww/2rtjfu23f; or something if she is good at guessing.

Thanks.

I'm really ****** off that if i remove my card details from Google wallet, you loose all your purchases.

I hate Google with a passion. I didn't realise it would be this restrictive though.

and people say Apple is bad

Open Play Store App
Press menu button goto settings
Set or change pin
Mark "Use pin for purchases"

(you have to enter the pin to disable this option later) (Futher reading shows you can reset this pin going into some crazy buried settings in cache or something, so it is no good for protecting agains theft, just kids :) ).

But you are right, its totally **** poor the hoops you have to jump through to protect your own credit card from being wide open for the world to use.

I have done all of the steps above and now she can download free (age restricted) apps but needs a pin for purchases.

If I had known any of this before purchase I would have got an iPad mini and used iTunes gift vouchers.

Thanks for the help, but I am still not 100% happy. :(

No probs, same here on the purchasing thing, it really needs sorting.
