Haven't kept up with stuff the last year so I be needing help upgrading for the video games and stuff.

Thinking I'm gonna need to spend 300-400 but cheaper is better. Rig is in sig but I'll be wanting to go back to a regular atx board so will need a new case too (don't need to spec that though). Obviously I wont be able to get a new card with that budget and I'm mainly wanting to increase performance in planet side 2 at the moment which is a CPU hog so basically looking for a cpu, mobo ram and cooler, (maybe psu?).

I am a student game artist so I do use a few programs that could benefit from hyper threading but I'm thinking that an i7 will probably be stretching the budget a bit too far?

Thanks.

The PSU in your sig might do the job . The Minimum power requirements for a 480 are apparently 600w?

You can always drop back to an i5 and put a GPU in there, but it'll only be a mid range GPU like a 7770.

Whats your current rig spec? GPU, PSU, RAM etc?

Im guessing the PC in his sig which has a GTX 480 in it.

Rig is in my sig (sorry I did put it the first post but must have re written a bit and accidently deleted it)

480gtx
[email protected] 4GB ram
550watt psu (been using it a couple of years and I've made sure to measure my power draw under load which was under under 400watts)

Edit: oh wait I did say rig is in sig :P

Ok, thanks guys. I think I'll stick to the i5 to keep the cost down though seeing as I need a case too.

There isn't anything coming out in the next month that I might want to wait for is there?
