Built my system last night and it's running fine but the temps on my 3570k seem quite high (even before I attempt to OC).

Idling at around mid 50s and All 4 cores showing around 100 when I run Prime95!

Using Enermax ETS-T40 cooler which I believe should give good cooling performance. I did use an old tube of thermal paste.

Reckon it's worth taking the cooler off and using different paste?
It's a right pain in the arse to put the cooler on.

Definitely too high, at idle theese are pretty cool running cpu's. New paste may help and make sure the cooler is seated well enough.

Just taken the cooler off armed with new thermal paste.

Hadn't taken the sticker off the bottom of the cooler before sitting it on top of the CPU.

I don't think I've ever felt more stupid in my life. :(

LOL. I almost did it once.

I used to build race engines. Built one, put it on the dyno and started it up and got a nice big puddle of oil in no time.... I forgot to put the flywheel/crankshaft seal in. :( I still hear about it every time I'm with those guys. Good news was engine was best build to date... once the seal was installed that is. :D

We've all done silly things...

I panicked one morning as my PC wouldn't turn on, phone up my mate (who help me put my first PC together) and asked for his help, only to realise i'd unplugged it from the extension lead and not plugged it back in.

Had to make up an excuse to why i phoned him...

Not my best day.. :)

Got a good laugh out of me! I'll be building my gf a rig and rebuilding mine at the same time later this week so it could've happened to me as well. I'll be checking for that sticker ;)

Temps are great now! Max 60c running prime95.

To be fair that sticker was easy to miss. It was clear with a bit of small black text on it. Should've been bright yellow/orange! :p

Glad I checked before I started overclocking!

50 Idle and 100 Load? Bugger Me! Do you live on the Sun :D

Hahah I was freaking out thinking I'd killed my CPU last week after reseating my cooler. Plugged in the 24pin power connector and not the 6pin. The board obviously powered up, but the CPU didn't and gave errors... Felt like such an idiot when I realised :D

I've nearly forgotten to remove the sticker on the bottom of a cooler as well :), can't even remember what made me take it back off to even notice ...glad I did though before id turned it on.

haha not as good as my mate who got his brand new mobo opened boxed said we don't need that plastic thing on mobo and ripped out the cpu socket :D

still funniest thing ive seen :D
