Virgin Media Discussion Thread

well when I put in my postcode on the online speed increase checker it says my area is now done! But I am still on 20 after a reboot! I rang them only for India to tell me it will take 15-20 days to get connected to 60! Is this correct and is this what happened to all of you who already have it?
Theres no point me ringing to get them to switch it early as they said my price would go up as I am using some old 'loyalty' codes that woulnd't work if I upgraded!!!

anyone else having problems with their direct debit?

I've set it up 7 times so far, only to get another bill a few days ago.

It is getting annoying. Every time I send them an email I get a reply back that my CVP is incorrect. Every time I phone them they say "but sir, we cannot setup a direct debit if you do not pay your bill", so I am forced to pay it, along with the 5 pounds extra a month.

Can I leave them for this without having to pay anything for the outstanding contract time?

Does anyone know if the Chat function in My Virgin Media -> Contact us -> General enquiries is still working? I remember upgrading my services using the Chat a couple of months ago but it doesn't seem to be there. Calling them would really be a hassle as it takes so much time to get anything sorted.

If you suffering from upstream contention go to their offical forums and raise a ticket saying exactly that that.

they take 3-5 days to answer but its usually by a lvl2 guy so you don't have to go through the constant wall of crap you get by dialing 151.

Then pursue and pressure until they admit there is an issue... that is the hardest part usually. Then get your bill for free or heavily reduced. Dont hesitate to escalate even further to the directors complaint team.. then they seem to call and kiss your arse about twice a week to tell you whats going on....

In all seriousness expect it to take MONTHS for stuff to change. Swap to FTTC if you can and dont mind having a satalite dish too.

I am on the Sittingbourne exchange and FTTC is available in some areas.

Done the postcode checker and no FTTC, best is ADSL2+ with speeds between 5.5Mbps and 12.5Mbps.
Also done a chat with BT and they also confirmed that my area is not covered and there are no plans for it to be done apparently :(

Been getting a lot of PL spikes the last month or so, rather frustrating but no doubt its a case of "high utilization in your area". Sitting on TS and people turn the robots frequently and i see PL of 60%+. Also love that the Intel network chipset on my motherboard kept killing the crappy "superhub"

hmm...

Since putting the superdud into modem mode and installing an asus RT-N56U router my thinkbroadband graph now looks like this!

Before that it looked a bit like the one peace posted. I now have full speed and full wireless coverage through the entire house!
