I wont go into why I am going to cut down because it's not a medical
thread but its for better mental health reasons.

So today I eased myself In gently and have decided to not
eat Bread, Milk, Cheese and Chocolate.
I suprised myself with a black coffee tonight and it wasnt to bad lol.

Has anyone else recently or a while ago stopped eating Dairy products
and did you feel any better for it?

no bread cheese butter, only having skimmed milk with protein shake but this is for cutting. Its a hell of a lot easier to cut fat if you eliminate dairy

Well for starters i would have to say that as far as i'm aware, bread is not a dairy food. But really, i'm not sure this would have the desired effect. Unless of course it was a placebo. Yes, there are links between diet (and also exercise, which is definitely worth looking into as well) and mental health but that has more to do with having a full and balanced diet rather than... not. Which is what you're suggesting.

Bread isn't a dairy product.

I stopped eating them a while ago as I think I'm a bit lactose intolerant. I'll only have dairy nowadays if I'm with mates who are ordering a pizza.

I know some people are lactose intolerant - more common to have issues if you're of black or Asian origin than European

but cutting out dairy for mental health reasons? where on earth has that come from?

I've read online that lactose intolerance can cause mental health issues like bipolar disease but I haven't read any peer reviewed papers so can't comment on the accuracy of the claims.

But then it depends on the nature of the mental health issues, which is bordering on against the rules of this forum, and even so surely your first action then would be to find out if you are lactose intolerant or not, before making any drastic dietary changes without professional advice.

I agree, there is nothing wrong with adjusting your diet to be more balanced but drastic changes, especially when you think you are ill, need to be made after consulting with a medical profession.

From a purely academic point it would be interesting to understand if there is a link and why.

im a vegan, bread can sometime contain animal products so you have to read the ingredients, quite frankly why bread should contain boiled pig bones I dont know!

Anyway diary is pretty bad for both you and the environment (diary cows emit more bad things into the environment than all the cars), check out a film called vegucated its on netflix, will open your mind!

Diary alternatives like soya, rice or almond milk have a lot less calories plus dont contain the nasty hormones given to diary cows, which in turn go into your body through the milk
