Was to wait in today to accept delivery of a new graphics card which was sent via Royal Fail Special Delivery, came downstairs at 7:45 as the GF was up getting ready for work & noticed the red "Something for you" card on the door mat stating delivery attempted at 7:15am and immediately thought it odd that neither of us heard anyone knock.

Theought it would be a good idea to check the CCTV that mr postman obviously didn't spot.

Watched 7am-7:30 no mr postman, very odd. So watched earlier.

He pulled up at 6:40am, goes in the back of his van for his little satchel thing they carry around, walks down the drive & stands at the door for about 4 minutes without knocking playing about with something that's lit up then pops the card through the door & wanders off, chucks his satchel thing on the passenger seat & drives off, to me this means no delivery was attempted.

I've phoned the local office to no avail as nobody answers, do you reckon it's worth driving into town & attempting to park in a pay & display as it looks like he didn't have the parcel with him, so i'm guessing it never left the office?

Mine usually says wait at least 3h before collecting

It might be complete BS or there might be some kind of bizarre reason but i cant see why you cant go and collect it. Doesn't the card say when you can collect?

THis kind of story crops up more often these days, kinda strange :)

Haha stung! It may well still be in the van for delivery, which is why they say to wait before collecting. I would definitely pass that on to RM though.

+1

My postman has told be before that if he has too much stuff to carry that day (he walks, not in a van) then he just puts one of these through the door and youll have to collect it from the depot

Lazy sods.

Sounds like a bad case of couldn't be bothered. I don't understand the mentality of not doing your bloody job as would be reasonably expected. You could maybe push your lunch and try and get your time chasing this up compensated by RM.

If thats true, what the hell do we pay them for. I had a paper round when i was 16 on a sunday and had to use a trolley i had that many papers! its no excuse with the money they are on.

Sounds like someone wanted a new GFX card for xmas!

Inb4 the 'should have used OCUK and got DPD' comments. :p

I've watched the postman push a "Sorry you weren't in" slip through my letter box whilst I was brushing my teeth on the other side of the door. Not amused.

It does suck, and these threads seem to be getting more and more common.

Nice work for getting it on CCTV though, I would get in touch with the depo, or if they don't respond take it higher and present them with the evidence. Might help prevent the postie doing it in future.

You pay for a service and that service isn't being met. I'd go keyboard warrior on that **** and send a tonne of e-moans to all the right people.

I've tried copying the file onto my phone to take with me but the DVR doesn't reckognise my phone as a USB storage device.

Am I right in thinking as they failed to deliver before 1pm which is guaranteed a refund is due?

This, put the video on a mobile device and take it with you to the depot.

Put it on youtube!

Do this if you get no joy from them.

It boils my **** that they do this kinda **** tbh. RM are trying to close depots for customer collections as it's costing them to much to staff. If the sodding postie did his job right in the first place then maybe very few people would actually need to collect.

Going to the depot and showing them the video isn't going to achieve anything meaningful for you. Put the experience in a letter to the post office complaints dept. Tell them you have the video evidence that the driver did not attempt to deliver and did not ring the bell.
A letter carries a hell of a lot more weight than a personal visit. It gets seen by the right people. Even email is preferable to a means of contact that isn't recorded.
