Nope, it's not Shayper's latest head-wear (hohoho, love you really) - thought this would provoke an interesting debate / mass ****ging match to the death:

Just listened to this clip and thought the lady sounded a bit of a nob considering her family's income, particularly when she used the word discrimination. What, discriminating against people who clearly don't need any help? :p

I'm contemplating starting my own petition to get me a wheelchair - it's discriminating I don't have one even if I can't walk, hurrr! Not an entirely serious comment, don't have a hernia.

Benefit caps seem necessary for budgeting purposes. What do people think of the proposed cap?

Any family where 1 parent alone earns over 50K clearly doesn't need, nay deserve the same help as, say, a single mother earning 20K.

Especially if the other parent is earning as well.

Benefits should be reserved for people who without them would actually struggle to live, not those who otherwise might not be able to go skiing every year.

Have they sorted out the issue with 2 parents earning just less than £50k each getting the benefit but a single parent earning just over £50k doesn't?

Until that's sorted then I don't agree with the cap.

we dont earn much as ive gone back to study and to be honest we dont really notice the extra £80 a month

However attacking child benefits is quite short sighted of morons in government, considering we have a massive ageing population and before its too late we need more people to have babies in the UK.

They are just worried that will have to cut down on the pony riding lessons a week. Whilst the genuine needy get branded as spongers.

Anyone notice just how many food banks have sprung up in the last 18 months.

Yet the fully able bodied "won't work", "dislike work" will be the ones to come out of this untouched.

Government after government has promised to deal with this, yet all they do is hit the vulnerable. The others know the system better than the DWP.

no you can have two parents earning £49,999.99 a year and still get CHB

Can anyone go to a food bank, is it free, do you have to prove you have no money?

Just asking...

Hmm, complex.

I'd rather that after you had more than X number of children, you no longer got benefits for them than if you earn more than Y you don't get benefits for them.

Her husband is an Accountant so I bet he doesn't pay all his taxes. And if he does, he's not a very good Accountant.. ;)

The issue with this is, a couple of both earn 45K will be receiving the benefits but if just one of the parents earns 51K and the other stays at home then they lose the benefits. It's not exactly fair. It's also not like 50k is a huge amount of money after tax either, especially if you live in a area with high property rates.

As far as I understand it, you need to be refered there by someone. I.e. a doctor or a school.

How do you know what someone on £50k needs? I'm not saying that someone on £50k is poor and as needy as someone on £20k but it doesn't mean they have money flowing out of their pockets and can afford to go skiing every year.

Lets be honest, there's no real money to be saved going after families. Resources would be better spent tightening up on Corporate Tax loopholes and the like.

No benefits for anyone, its the only fair way

Work hard so you can support a family, dont have a family if you cant afford one.

Pretty simple really isn't it
