The mobile web version of Google Maps is optimized for WebKit browsers such as Chrome and Safari. However, since Internet Explorer is not a WebKit browser, Windows Phone devices are not able to access Google Maps for the mobile web.
Internet Explorer in Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 use the same rendering engine.

And it just happened to happen the day after the American competitive chaps let them off the hook. Still Europe to go though.
gMaps application still works for those in need of a Google maps fix.
Be nice to see MS push out an IE update that strips all Google served ads by default for all versions of IE going back to 6 as they are presumably "optimised" for webkit browsers and have a negative impact on MS customers browsing experience![]()

I hope someone is forwarding this stuff to the European competition investigation team as they've not yet ruled on Google.
