Life after brain trauma : BMW Z3

Technically miles inferior i am sure, still prefer it, it looks pretty amazing for the rock bottom price :)

I thought the 2.8 version would make up for the inferioty in all the other areas, with the one bane of the MX5 being power, it did not.

The Z3M on the other hand is a whole other story, but then that brings me memories of M cars being a whole different kettle of fish to non M cars.

in Coupe form, sure, but in Roadster form it would appear to have inherited many of it's non-M stablemates shortcomings.

That said one thing the Z3 did offer that nothing else did for similar money was a big capacity 6 pot in a small Roadster. The MX5 is a better handling car for sure but as a powerful (200bhp in 1996 isnt bad) cruiser the Z3 2.8 had some appeal.

The 2.8 does sound pretty good and is plenty powerful for a little car (and that's one that's done 140k).

at £1300 it is even hard to slate it for being 1.9

since starting to become a bit of a BMW fanboi ive grown a softspot for the Z3. it doesnt pretend to be anything other than a lazy little roadster which makes me like it more

A Spanish bloke?

As for the engine, youre right about bomb proof. The lump traces its roots back to the F1 turbo days, a direct descendant of the M20

Oddly, a friend of mine had a E30 318 which randomly dropped a valve for no obvious reason and lunched the entire engine

It just feels like it can take a lot of stick and sounds great. Get that feeling from it anyway.

If I remember rightly you are the guy I helped get the Clio 200 at a good price? I think we had almost identical specs as well?

I sold my Clio 200 to a local Renaultsport dealer back in May and got a fantastic price for it. While I'm not suggesting you definitely will, it's worth checking as you may find you'll get more than the GFV at the end of the contract. They will pay the finance company for you and you pocket the difference. Worth checking :)

Auto though, so a bit less desirable than a 2.8 manual which in general will command more. I still think both were well pretty good buys mind you.

For the money it's a lot of car and in the summer it'll be lovely... I don't liek them but at the end of the day for the money it's better looking than the older MX5's even if it's not in the same league. Solid and nice mate, enjoy!
