Hi,

I am in the process of buying a laptop for my partner and it needs to be capable of gaming with at least medium graphics, however as you all know the well known brands for gaming (alienware, XPS, Asus etc etc) cost an utter fortune.

However I found these 2 laptops that actually look decent for the price, yes a desktop would be cheaper AND perform better but not aiming for that.

What you guys think? Which is better? Or both bad?

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM processor
16GB RAM
Hard disk capacity: 750GB
SSD Capacity: 128GB
Resolution: 1920x1080 pixels
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 670MX

Price £1059

Are these worth the price for a laptop? Also the specs, I am sure the GTX670m is roughly on par with a 550ti or a GTX260?

No clue about the CPU, the RAM is pretty blatently described as well with no speed/model indication.

Do not link to competitors!

So these particular Medion laptops are just componets stuffed inside an MSI case. You notice how they look identical to the MSI gaming series?

The RAM will be fine, the CPU is also fine on them two (3630QM being better). However the pricing on theses for the GFX cards are a tad deer

There is currently ONE 680M (desktop 670 chip) laptop left on super'nova tech'nology for £1190 which is just unheard of. If you can steal that laptop from me purchasing it you will be getting the best deal.

Also we are both breaking the rules by talking about competitors.

Yes sorry, my apologies to the admin and thanks to the guy linking the OCUK build.

Thanks for the info and heads up

So that aside, say I want to spend 1k on a laptop and I want to buy it from OCUK, any ideas?

You need to get an i7 so
i7 3610QM
8GB ram
7970m
1TB samsung (pretty fast write/read speeds despite the 5400 rpm)
= £1022.96

Only reason why I am not buying from OCUK is because I have found the same system with Intel 6235 and 2nd HDD caddy for 20 quid less. if my budget wasnt so tight I would pick this up in a heartbeat

That is the best deal I have found for a good gaming laptop near 1k

Presuming 15.4" screen and not the 17" one, quite a jump in price and I personally couldn't go back to the days of 15 inchers :p
