Help me build a computer please.

Hi there,
Haven't used this before, recommended by a friend, so apologies if I do anything wrong.
Also very new to building computers, I know what things like the CPU, ram and GPU do and generally that bigger numbers mean better things, but I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to choosing a set up.
Basically, I need everything I require to build a computer for less than £600. I would like to get in to PC gaming, so would like one which can play most new games on around medium settings. Looking to get crysis 3 when that comes out so that could be a guide.
Not bothered about dual monitors at the moment, I'm fine with one, if that changes anything.
Anything I have missed out please ask.
Sorry this might be a bit demanding, but I really am clueless on this kind of thing and incredibly indecisive so I need a bit of help.

I edited the post it wasn't meant for this thread fella. It's late, I made a mistake but corrected it almost before you could post ;) Having to pay for an OS chips into the budget quite a bit.

Any GPU lower than the 2GB 7850 is false economy in my eyes. He could consider a trinity setup but intels 1155 socket would be the better platform to build on

Bit more in budget, but it's a 500GB HDD. I'm still no fan of windows 8, prefers windows 7, but either you feel will work for you.

Yes sadly it is over budget. There are cheaper cases which would help trim off a few quid, the teamgroup RAM is a little cheaper too but I dont really trust it and it's a higher CAS rating (worse technically). I'm sure others will take a red hot crack at it

However if you use the developers copy of windows 8 for free as a try before you buy, you can get the i5K and mildly overclock it on this mobo with it's included heatsink. After 3 months you can buy an OS and choose between windows 8 or get 7 if you don't like 8.

Looks like the kind of thing I'm looking at. I guess it's over budget if bought from overclockers, but I might be able to save a few quid elsewhere to bring it down to budget. Also, is it necessary to spend £50 on that case? Only has one average review, and there are ones which appear to provide more ventilation for £20 less. Any particular reason to buy that one?

Nothing wrong with the Shinobi. Nice case, can be pimped with extras if and when you feel the need. Case is personal preference at the end of the day.

Have a look at the Zalman Z9 U3 (it's not stocked here), that's my fav starters case. Digital temp display, fan controller, 3 fans (2 led blue), proper side window and USB3 ports, upgraded over the Z9 plus. Has a P4/8 extension to route the cable behind the mobo tray. Only real downside is you have to route cables out the back for the front USB3 ports unless you buy an adapter for the mobo header (eg silverstone cp09 adapter)
 
The xigmatek looks great, I'm not not too bothered about how it looks.
Won't be ordering until the start of February so they may get stock in before then.
Also, what is the advantage of USB 3.0? Is it really important?
