Am I missing something but if you exit wp8 browser and then go back in it brings up what you were last on but all previous history is lost so pressing back doesn't go back to last page but brings you to home screen.

So annoying.

HaHa, small world, a good battle going on but also like you you can only really attack a base every so often due to the cool down and waiting for it to fill is beyond boring.

I actually had an agreement with the other green chap based in the south/west that we would only attack red, then you turned up and me and my fellow purple ripped the agreement up. Red hasn't been back in a while so it's just us two teams.

Did you like my North Walsham and coast deployment on Tuesday! still you got it all back pretty much.

The first few days I was so limited by my range and number of bots, now I have a pretty good foothold from the Aylsham / North Walsham area where I live right up to the coast and around, just need to go for a drive and set up some bases :D

Would be good if there was a couple of reds to mix things up a bit.

Think I have 6 bases and need to deploy a couple, one's in your area so doesn't generate as fast!

When I started playing Norwich was totally red except a few bits of green from the other green dude, red dude seems to be Yarmouth based.

Here lies the biggest thing they have missed on IE10 that features heavily on IE10 on the Surface RT.

With the Surface if you are browsing, you literally flick back across the screen to go back a page, flick the other way, back to teh page you where one, this isnt a feature just of IE10 of course, its been about for a while. But why the hell oh WHY THE HELL didn't they implement the same gesture sequence for the WP IE10!

Also, love having my Desktop IE10 favorites and history etc shared to my Surface via Skydrive, yet none of them show up on my Phone which is synced to all the same account, they are missing some little big tricks here!

I uninstalled Qonqr last night. Shame really as I think it has potential but it's lacking in something. I got to level 42 in really only a few days, but it just got repetitive.

It got me thinking though that if they combined something like this with that of oGame or something similar where you build up colonies and amass an army or something that would be more fun and far more strategic.

How you access an already running application affects whether the existing session is retained or if the app is relaunched.

If you access IE from a live tile or the apps list then it will be relaunched, and all your session history will be lost.
If you use a long press of the back button to switch to the already running IE session, then your history will be retained.

Excellent! I think I forgot that was the case as it's the same for all apps lol, thanks Paul.

Yes that's the thing egon, you don't really have any connection to your army, really could be a lot more, I have another game called world domination but not tried it yet but I think there's more strat to it.

I don't understand why audible is popular... it seems so damned expensive to me! I really want to try it but every time I load it up I baulk at the prices and switch it off again.
If you just stick to the "free" book you get each month without buying anything else, it works out quite well at £7.99 per book.

That's pretty good going, id like to know how many more they could have sold if there wasn't any carrier or supply limitations. Its showing there is clear demand for the phone and WP8. Also what is impressive is WP8 was delayed until the end if Oct, so that's one whole months sales missed and the L920 didn't hit many stores till mid November. Not bad for a "dead" company......

Comscore has released some numbers for the 3 month period up to November 2012, and it shows that 5% of smartphone users in the EU5 countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom) are using Windows Phones, a population which increased 16% over the last year.

With a smartphone population of about 131.5 million users, that results in about 6.5 million Windows Phone users in the big 5 European countries, nearly double the number according to the latest Comscore US numbers, where there are around 3.7 million Windows Phone users or 20% down year on year. With a population of around 315 million people the EU5 countries have a population close to that of USA.

Of course while the absolute numbers of Windows Phones increased in EU5, unlike in USA, its market share did still decrease, but with the latest Kantar numbers showing Windows Phone market share already close to 5% this will hopefully show a turn around into the new year.

Really gutted as I now have to send the phone off to Nokia for repair because my accelerometer and gyro sensors have died on the phone. Tried rebooting and a hard reset and that didn't solve the problem.

Their might be a good chance that when you Phone comes back itll have the update firmware running it, sooner than most of us!

Do you get to choose the free book?

*Sigh*

Not just because of what you said but because Nokia managed to spin it so most people would think it too.

"Lumia" means "Lumia". They haven't split the sales figures between WP7.5 & WP8 devices. So those improved sales numbers mean nothing as far as the 820 & 920 are concerned. I'd imagine it has more to with rock-bottom pricing for the now-defunct WP7.5 devices than anything. For example you can get a Lumia 800 for £159 SIM Free.

Windows Phone grew more than 400% in UK in 2012: Retailers report strong reaction to new WP8 handsets, better than expected sales

UK retailers are reporting that British consumers are reacting strongly to new Windows Phone handsets.

MobileToday.co.uk notes that sales of the new generation of Windows Phones were higher than the last and that retailers and operators alike report a better than anticipated start to sales of Microsoft’s latest phone operating system from both HTC and Nokia.

The improved sales has been to the degree that companies like HTC and Nokia have been reporting shortages of their new Windows Phone 8 smartphones.

Phil Roberson, HTC UK and Ireland executive director, said: ‘We did have some stock shortages early on. We were seeing that demand was exceeding supply. As we go into the New Year, I am optimistic we will be able to start to meet all the demand. We are really pleased about how Windows Phone is going and we have high hopes for it in 2013.’

Nokia’s shortage woes have been well documented and a spokesman told Mobiletoday it was ‘happy’ with the Lumia portfolio’s performance.

MobileToday attributes the improved sales to improved marketing, with a campaign worth about £25m running in the UK. Microsoft is expected to launch a fresh advertising campaign this spring as it looks to build further momentum.

A major reason for the shortages have however been OEMs managing their inventory very cautiously.

Francisco Jeronimo, research manager at IDC said: ‘It’s no surprise demand is high, but you need to be careful in reading the numbers. It’s not as if HTC or Nokia is bringing Samsung or Apple levels of devices to market. It’s extremely important not to overproduce. It’s much better to manage higher demand than leave too many unsold handsets in a warehouse. That would not generate confidence among operators. Even if they sacrifice some sales it’s much better because operators will show confidence in the OS.’

He added that confidence in the operating system will actually be bolstered by HTC running low on stock.

While he did not expect it to happen this year, he still expected Windows Phone to overtake iOS by 2016, second only to Android.

Jeronimo said: ‘The fourth quarter was extremely important and gave consumers the opportunity to see devices at point of sale and try them out. Microsoft is investing a lot of money to promote it and generate knowledge about the platform, but we are expecting a slow growth in the platform this year.’

While the IDC predicted slow growth it is interesting that Statcounter data actually pegs Windows Phone as the fastest growing OS in UK in 2012, by a long margin.
iOS BlackBerry OS Android Windows Phone SymbianOS
W2 2012 41.65 32.39 21.05 0.62 2.2
W 2 2013 44.37 21.4 28.6 3.24 0.52
Growth (YoY) 7% -34% 36% 423% -76%

Over the year Windows Phone added more than 400% to their installed base, and currently has more than 3% of the online mobile users in the country. iOS only managed to garner 7% YoY growth, while Blackberry lost 34% of their usage and Android gained 36%.

If Windows Phone can only manage to hit half of that growth, or 200%, in 2013, it should grow to around 10% of UK users and much larger retail market share. Pretty good for the OS some ex-Nokians claim no-one wants…
