Now this just makes me want to pick one up for a HTPC. Stick a linux build on there and away you go for next to nothing. Am I right in thinking the A4 chip would be suitable for 1080p playback?

Definately, the A4 APUs are really impressive when it comes to graphics power.

God that's tempting. I could even swap the bluray drive in my desktop into this (don't need it up there anyway). I'm so sick of streaming media to my xbox and transcoding/demuxing stuff all the time.

My birthday is coming up, I think I'll drop some hints to the missus

The A4 system is the best for onboard video so it would make the superior HTPC

I have to say that these seem to be excellent value. You can't build it cheaper yourself! So basically you get a discount to have a 2 year warranty and have some other poor bugger do the cable management.

£60 extra gets you the same build in a Silverstone Sugo though, with a few small changes. Very tempting indeed. I hear XBMCbuntu would make a good OS too.

I wouldn't recommend it to be honest. The A4 system might be able to run *a few* newish things on low or medium.

Man that's tempting, my old HTPC in the living room could use a replacement. Shame there is no HDMI port though. What's the noise like? are they reasonably quiet? assuming they just use basic fans, but I guess I could just buy replacements. Also, possible typo:

Audio is easily sorted tbh. Anyone using on-board audio for their TV really needs a set of speakers. Even cheap speakers are better than tv speakers.
