If you could choose a time period to be born into, when would it be?

Can be past, present or future.

I'm undecided. While being born into the future would bless me with all sorts of weird and wonderful technology, living in the past in a simpler time might be nice.

I was born in 1958 and I reckon that was perfect because of the life, experiences and changes I've seen.
Perhaps 5 years earlier I might have got to see Hendrix.

I would be wary of choosing to live in the future where all of the natural resources are depleted and society collapses, like in Mad Max.

To answer the question: Medieval times.

About a thousand years in the future, we can't even begin to imagine what it'll be like. Thinking about it I'm sure we'll have wiped ourselves out well before then but I'd take the risk.

Distant future. Humanity can be a terrible ugly thing, but as we look through history, we've been getting better. I'd like to see a time when humanity achieves things beyond the imagination of all but the most insane futurologist.

I remember a quote from somewhere, but I don't remember who said it: "there may yet be a heaven; it isn't going to be perfect and we're going to have to build it ourselves".

Israel two thousand years ago would be good for the crack. Probably better than my first thought of 1960's San Francisco.

Going into the past in this country isn't such a good idea, for me. I'd probably go to the future, whenever we have perfected nanotechnology :)

I'd have liked to be the the first family out of Africa and into Europe or the first people into america, before the Indians..

But maybe i'd not enjoy living in the wild, constantly thinking you'd get eat by a tiger or bear.. but i'd have thought living would be easier, plenty food, plenty land and if you had a time machine you could go back with enough knowledge to re shape the world..
