I would be surprised if they got busted by the police, I see several cars and bikes each day with illegal plates on my commute and they have been driving the same route as me for ages. If they have been busted then they must just continue using them *shrug*
Yeah not all that much seems to be getting done but I can see exactly why - it's because the police are totally overworked, not enough time to deal with all half the jobs they get, budget cuts etcetera.
Would just take a traffic bobby in a bad mood I reckon.
The thing is though, people with illegal plates are just going to make life much more difficult for themselves if their car gets knicked because the ANPR cameras won't be able to pick it up.
