Far Cry 3 Thread

Cool I'll give it a whirl. So you could go wipe out the bad guys then start missions, or do they just respawn?

I used to go around sniping most of the guys I could before I did a mission.

Get all the towers you can be bothered to get at first as this will give you new guns. Once you start to take out outposts it gets a little boring as everywhere is full of your guys with no random pirates to kill.

Thankfully, that's where that mod comes into play.

I really must finish this game. I am quite a long way in, but stopped playing it as it was just getting too annoying. At least the patch seems to have made it a bit better.

Yeah, Going to have to try the mod out. I did find it a little disappointing, It was fun being on edge at first not knowing if you were going to be spotted by a random gang driving down the road or stalked by a tiger lol.

Once the outposts were gone it was easy.

I think like you when i die in a game, i'm that tempted to start from scratch, but in the end i just power on through and learn from my mistakes and it makes me into an even better player.

Edit: Although, i'm tempted to start Far Cry 3 again with that mod that was posted, because it is pure survivalist and i love playing games on the hardest settings they can be.

Possibly, except most of my deaths in Far Cry 3 have been the result of me ****ing around. I think I've burnt to death in a car a couple of times because I wanted to try going off road and wound up falling off a cliff (:p). A few times I've been killed while on a mission because I was messing around trying to takedown people or headshot them and not thinking about how much damage I was taking and so on. I'm not going to restart because I thought for a laugh I'd try to kill knife someone instead of just ripping them apart with my silenced Vector .45. The only death I can think of (except for the drowning part because it wasn't clear I needed to spam the spacebar, not press it repeatedly) is when I was suddenly switched to shooting people from a cheap with my pistol through the front window and the enemies simply did a crazy amount of damage that I wasn't expecting. Bioshock isn't that hard either once you get past the first couple of Big Daddy fights. Skyrim is hit n miss on the higher 'difficulties' with some things simply being impossibly hard to beat with no way to prevent or escape the encounter. STALKER can kill you on a whim regardless of how well you're doing.

Honestly how could you enjoy restarting FC3 every time you died? The start of the game feels like a grind. Your have sod all weapons available and no crafted equipment and you just feel compelled to run around killing animals to upgrade your kit so you can forget about it and get on with killing things. I wouldn't enjoy doing that more than once because its so arbitrary and tedious.

Ahh cool thanks guys I shall check out those links & mods. Those messages and flashing leaves are just stupid.

And another observation: close-range headshot with assualt rifle to pigs head and it runs off??? PLEASE! C'mon I thought these Far Cry people were on the ball!!

And the fact you can nigh on stay in the same spot in a river which is rushing through the mountain, the current is flowing very strong. I thought what the heck, I'll swim through it expecting to be swept down the mountain. OH NO, I'M FINE...

Installed the mod last night (i did backup the files it replaced) so i'll check it out tonight and post my experiences.

Finished it last night; good stuff!

Has anyone seen the "The Far Cry Experience" vids on YouTube with Christopher Mintz-Plasse and the guy who plays Vaas in the game? They're brilliant -- that actor, Michael, who does Vaas deserves to go far as he's just fantastic in that role.

Little clips in between on some of the videos really show just how awful the textures (or lack thereof) on the console version really are compared to the PC. Vaas' face on console is just... flat in comparison.

Afaik, the guy who does Vaas has done a few things but nothing major, but i expect this to be a career booster.

You cant holster your weapon in this game

Running around like a loon with gun always out, how does stuff like this get given the green light at the developers.

Ok you cant holster an assualt rifle but they should let you lower it out of sight (kinda like Skyrim).

Instead...instead you gotta run around caves looking for MUSHROOMS pointing a GUN in front of you!

:(

Started playing this yesterday, enjoying it but I'm finding the mouse movement to be a bit annoying; I've tweaked the sensitivity so it's not so quick, but I'm finding that when moving the mouse fairly slowly, it feels a bit jerky (i.e. not smooth). Anyone else had this? It's putting me off playing the game, unfortunately.
