What are people's thoughts?

Obviously the person behind this one didn't like it:

And while we're on it: that new Beetle?!

I prefer this to the 6, considerably more angular and less rounded, gives it a slightly more modern vibe, much like the 6 versus the 5 IMO.

It's a Golf doing what the Golf does best, being an inoffensive, capable, well rounded car that appeals in one way or another to a large number of people. It's looks will improve with the GTI, much like the 5 and 6 did.

Boring. Not a fan of the VW styling at the moment, or the past several years for that matter. They've gone from bulbous round designs to dull, angular designs.

Looks a bit... Meh.

Shame as VW aren't completely useless at designing cars, I still really like the Scirocco and the Passat CC. Maybe if the Golf wasn't such a massive name in the car industry this hatchback might be able to move on. It's become a victim of its own popularity.

Buy a Leon, it's a more enjoyable prospect.

New Beetle's alright, quite good in a lot of respects, but the only reason to buy one is that you want a Beetle.

Fail to see why people get excited about new golfs coming out. The golf is a bit like the 911 (bear with me!) - they have a formula that they know works so they just tweak it slightly for each new release. That's great, but entirely un interesting

Okay it looks the same as the Mk6 but the spec on the Mk7 is very good and apparently improves on the ride and handling of the Mk6, if you believe the reviews.

I look forward to getting one on hire soon.

I'm sure it will be thoroughly "nice". That's all I really have to say about it, not a bad thing tbh I'm sure the sales will continue to flow in
