Could someone with a PS3 just check something for me please?

I love that once cutting edge graphics are now being adjusted to be "easier on the eyes" :P

Go for PS3! FF8 was my all time favourite game. I actually still have my PS1 just for my old FF collection on disk haha.

Also, I recommend Little Big Planet. Best PS exclusive imo and can be had for peanuts now.
 
thumbs up for FF7.. I played it for hours on ps1 and pc... I had FF8 but never got into it. I got FF13 when I got my 2nd PS3 and its never been in the machine. I really wish square releases a FF tactics for the PS3.
 
I replayed MGS about a year ago on a 40" TV, it was absolutely fine. Obviously the visuals are a bit jarring at first, but the smoothing option helps and it's not long before you're immersed in the game anyway.
 
Even if a certain game isn't available in whatever country you are in, you could also make a PSN account specific to a region.

For example, most PS3 users here may have a U.S PSN account so that they can buy games from this region's store and for the most part, the PSOne Classics selection is much more superior than our UK/European selection. Then there is also the old PAL 50Hz vs NTSC 60Hz thing too e.g. Final Fantasy IX.

Payment options aren't much of a problem as you can buy U.S PSN Cards or whatever region of your choice and it's associated account.

You have a ton of different options and as people have already mentioned above, with what PS+ is offering lately, so much choice.
 
Well it's not really is it? As that link is to the psn version of the game which was released 2010 and does work fine on the ps3

:o I might just have to get a PS3 now! I wasn't super keen on VIII but I loved playing X and IX (sadly didn't have VII myself but played it at a friends).
 
IF you was to get any retro console... I would get a ps2 rather than ps1. As it will play both ps1 and ps2 games. The ps3 (expect the 60gb 1st gen) won't play ps2 games and its highly unlikely that the ps4 (or what ever they going to call it) will play ps2 games.
 
FF7 is far better than 8 (imo) so make sure to pick that up. Other games that are must plays are Grandia, Suikoden 1 and 2 (1 is on the US store iirc, 2 goes for silly money on auction sites sadly) and Alundra (great zelda type game).
 
Well I got a PS3 and FF8 on Sat so I'm happy :)

I did consider a PSone but the added Blu-ray playing and movie rentals on the PS3 etc. will come in handy.

some decent exclusives also if you fancy ps3 gaming.

Uncharted would be top of my list 1,2,3 can be picked up for very little now. :)
