Hello,

So I said I would not do it. But after seeing how much it can pull after the OC, I will keep it. However this is the first time I have done it.

All I have done is go into the BIOS (X79-UD5) and set the multiplier to 40, and then go down each thread and do the same. Aside from that its all set to Auto. I have not touched the voltage at all.

It seems to be running fine, and is currently doing a stress test with intelburn.

CPU-Z has seen it at 4.0GHz with a x40 multiplier, so ive done it all right yeah?

I set mine to 4.0, but after running intel burn at maximum settings it came back saying CPU was too hot. (hotest thread was 70C).

I am using a H100i for cooling, thought this would have been better...

Ah I think I know what the CPU temp issue was caused by!

Me being silly!

I replaced the stock corsair fans from the H100i with two Antec True Cool fans as they were quiter.

However the Corsair Fans are 2700 and 77CFM, where as the True Cools are only 1200RPM and 42CFM. I will put the corsair ones back on!

Anyone know any 120mm fans for the H100i that will give me optimal cooling with a low noise floor? The stock fans are quite loud!

with everything set to auto what vcore is it setting with the multi at 40?

I use hwmonitor to monitor my voltages and temps as the figures match exactly what i get with my multimeter.

Just wondering if you set things manually you might be able to reduce temps a bit if its pushing more voltage than needed with auto settings.

4.6/4.8 is doable with that cpu.
Have currently clocking mine at 5ghz 1.475vcore.

I would not suggest any first time clocker apply 1.475v to an SB-E.

Lets stick to 1.4 depending on cooling. At around 1.4, 4.6+ is acheivable.

Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850RPM. 58.0 CFM @ 22dba. They're awesome fans!

Would the Scythe Gentle Typhoon not under perform compairded to the stock h100i fans? Seems quite a performance difference from 1850prm/58CFM (Typhoon) and the H100i @ 2700rpm/77CFM

Is there fans that will give me 70+CFM (I guess this is how much air is pushed?) but with a low noise floor of say <30dB?
