Introducing EVGA Tech Support Managers

Money/business. If they thought they could make more money by selling AMD cards as well then they would. By sticking with one side, they will no doubt get several benefits from Nvidia (Cheaper prices, possibly better binned chips? Who knows), and they can focus all their resources on just dealing with Nvidia cards, getting the maximum out of them. If they also sold AMD cards then they would lose out on all of the above. And they clearly believe that they can make more money currently with the deal they have, otherwise they would have teamed up with AMD as well. Plus there are already a number of companies solely focussing on AMD cards, so will have the same advantages that EVGA presumably currently have with Nvidia.

Any thoughts on why? :)

There were reports a few years ago of EVGA and AMD possibly working together but then rumours of a bust up with both sides claiming they rejected working with the other. Plus as iviv mentions, it would hurt their relationship with NVidia

As I have an EVGA card, It's good to know your around!

Now if only you could make my 480 as quiet as a current gen card that would be more than magic! :)

Welcome guys!

Hi Dominik,

I've just purchased 2 EVGA 670 4GB FTW cards and was wondering about the extended warranty offer... if I were to buy the 10 year warranty (7 year extension), would it be valid for the new owner if I were to sell the card in say, 4 years time?

Many thanks,

jc

Welcome to the OCUK forums I have a EVGA GTX 580 although you might not be that keen to know I butchered it to make it run cooler (see the link in my sig). As I thought the DS Superclocked cooler was rubbish.

Hi,

the 500 Series DS cards where pretty much the first dual fan cards we released. We learned a lot and our actually Signature2 models are much more silent, do cool much better and the quality of the components is also better.

Thanks for your feedback on this!

Hi,

generally we allow to open the cards without void the warranty. What you can try is to put high end thermal paste on the CPU and power management, this can ofthen help to lower the temps a couple of degree. With Precision X you can set up a custom fan courve, increasing the fanspeed early enough can mostly help to run a lower final speed but keep it at same temps.
The last option would be to install a third party cooler but with those you need to take care that the power management of the card get cooled enough with the 480s.

Hi jc0,

other members explained this pretty well in your tread about this, I posted also my opinion over there.

Cheers

Hi, yes sorry - I only posted here as well in case this was the only thread that you check.

Thanks for your help

Yes, this is a fantastic and pretty unique (as far as I'm aware) service that allows us to speak with EVGA so easily.
